Mullen doesn't have to sign any contracts to be the MSU football coach next year.

Now my long awaited opinion, because I know you care:

I'm glad we haven't blown our wad and given Mullen the keys to the vault as everyone from ESPN to some jerk off with an iphone has posted rumors about where he'd be bolting for. And for the record, no I'm not hearing anything. No, I don't have inside sources. No, I don't know what anyone is thinking. I just trust our Prez and AD and think they know exactly what they are doing. As for wooly feelings? I honestly believe Mullen is not going to go out and go paycheck hunting. I do think we'll have to show him a more permanent commitment. What that is beyond making some of the incentive pay permanent, I've got no idea. I'm not paid to figure it out, though. But as I just wrote, I trust those that are.

Anyway. I just wanted to remind some of you that Dan Mullen is still under contract to coach football at MSU. He's not packing up his office if he doesn't sign something. There's no real pressing need to throw something together and find the nearest notary public.

1. Make his assistants happy.
2. Commit to stadium expansion plans, whatever they are.

I'm guessing he wants a raise, too, but you asked what would be another show of permanent commitment, and those two came to mind immediately.

Count me in for wanting all 3 of those things to happen.
