The S&C coach is one of the only people recruits get to see year round. If you don't think that a S&C is that important then you don't know **** about football.

Go back and look at this team during the Croom years and the size of those guys. Dixon was always good RB but Balis made him into a monster. From the football players I have talked to, they have all said that Balis is monster and by far the best strength coach in the country. His philosophy and attitude is just what we need.

I could go on for days about the guy but I digress.

tl;dr Keep Balis.

But you're right about how important he is. Remember what Urban Meyer said when we hired him. He said the most important coach on your staff is the S&C coach and Mullen hit a home run by hiring Balis. Some people (mostly Bears) tried to dismiss that quote but it was true.

Balis is basically treated like a deity around here. He gets about as much love as any fanbase gives a S&C coach.

When it comes to jokes that is. For a homophobic board, there is a lot of sexual innuendo related to Balis, and apparently it trickles to your players. My favorite was the thread last year when you were all drooling over before and after pictures of 18-22 year olds with their shirts off.

I know it's not just me with that sense of humor or South Park wouldn't still be going strong after how many years now, and Daniel Tosh wouldn't be making any money right now.

Hell, South Park hit the Sandusky thing around 2 weeks after it came out, while it was still ripe, and they ran it into the ground for an entire episode. I figured someone would've beaten me to the punch with the "turning lil boys into men" comment. It was set up on a tee.

But when a player makes a comment about a coach turning little boys into men, given the recent events in sports, it is begging for a Sandusky joke. I just think you were being a little sensitive because you have a man crush on Balis like the rest of this board, so you couldn't find the humor in a joke about Balis.

And to clarify I'm not a fan of little boy rape either. Doesn't mean I won't laugh at Penn State or Catholic priest jokes though.

Can't poke fun at anything unless it's Rebel. It's your board now, and you apparently like it filled with a bunch of overly sensitive people using TSUN Bearz talk as general conversation, and that's your prerogative. I'll still be here for the occasional decent argument, not so much for the humor.

For the record, the Balis man-love on this board is still highly entertaining. I look forward to watching the homoerotic circle jerk over college male pictures that your homophobic board will surely produce in about 6 months.

By the way, I can appreciate the humor of your comment. Good witty response, though your minions apparently can only appreciate humor when directed at a Bear. High fives all around.

ETA: I do have to note that I'm proud of the responses. Not a single post made an effort to deny the man-crushing this board does over Balis. That's a step in the right direction to kicking the homophobia.

Offensive humor is fine, but when you come to a MSU message board and make a joke about an MSU coach raping boys, you're just being a dick. I sure as hell don't go onto the Nafoom board and say anything like that about TSUN.</p>

i'm not homophobic, i love offensive jokes as much as the next guy, and i have no idea what the whole shirts off thing is about. but that wasn't funny, it doesn't even make sense.

As I said, you were being too sensitive, probably because everyone here has serious man love for Balis, and because the board has lost a lot of its snarky nature. You've become incapable of laughing at yourselves. A few years ago, one of the MSU posters here would've made that type of joke before anyone else could get to it.

This is what people talk about when they say this board has gone downhill. It's not because you've won a few games. It's because the board lost its sense of humor other than making fun of the TSUN Bearz, and I attribute that to a change in posters.

The same thing has happened on Nafoom. Not sure why, but a lot of the entertaining posters who took message boarding and sports for what they really are...entertainment...left the board. Happened here and happened there for whatever reason. Both boards are a shell of what they used to be.

Some offensive things are funny. Making a joke that someone has committed a felony when they haven't isn't funny. Making a joke about Sandusky and child rape is funny, because he's guilty. For instance, a guy at work had us in stitches the other day with his imitation of a kid who went to Sandusky's camp (in a whiney voice - That was the worst camp ever! That wasn't in the brochure).

Also, I don't mind a dig at MSU if it's not directly insulting. For example, the Bear poster with the sig pic of the Hitler Youth poster doctored with MSU logos, a Bulldog and Dan Mullen's face, that was well done and funny, even though it was a dig at MSU and our fanbase and could be considered offensive by some people.

Basically, just don't be a dick. If you don't like either this board or Nafoom, they why do you keep coming back to both of them? Believe me, nobody is forcing you to.
