Looking at Bob Stoops`record tells me that a top 25 Big 12 team is obviously not as good as a top 25 SEC team.

Is it Coach Mullen's fault that Ole Miss can't manage to be ranked when he kicks their ***.

This is such a misleading stat. Most of our top 25 losses have come to teams that finished in the top 5. With a few of the teams we lost to going undefeated.

Half of those losses are to Bama, Auburn, and LSU. Let's look at other teams records the last 5 years against the same teams.

Actually

I posted the numbers (through 2012, haven't updated to include last years) and the average rank of the ranked teams we played was 8, but don't let facts get in these morons way.

ETA: I did a quick look, did not double check, at last year, and I believe it bumped that number to 9-10....

The blessing and the curse. He makes $2.5 large plus because of the neighborhood. His record is average because of the neighborhood.

No doubt, I don't think anyone is advocating he should be 15-8 in his 23 games. But, 4-19 would look alot better than 2-21. Here's a quick comparison of the lowest winning % with a minimum of 10 games against the top 25:

Just curious, but what is the

average rank of the teams the coaches in the list faced, there? Mullen's is roughly 9-10 (end of the year rankings, which I believe hold more weight).

Who knows, but I would imagine the SEC coaches are fairly comparable.

Keep in mind, I showed career numbers. Some of those guys half quite a few losses before they became power conference coaches which is fairly forgivable. For instance, Brady Hoke is 4-20 in his career, but he's 3-7 at Michigan. He was 1-13 at Ball State and San Diego State.

Also, if you're going to use 'final rankings' I think Mullen is going to lose half of his wins. That 2010 Florida team didn't finish the year ranked. 2009 OM finished #20.

Again,

I know this. I've already done the research (RE: Mullen).

People think I am trying to make a point on Mullen "not sucking." I'm not making one in that regards, either way. I also would like to see more success.

I'm just trying to show that you have to take into account the actual rankings (novel). Saying "top 25" is misleading, when in actuality, it is (on avg) top 10. That is my point.

It's like saying someone is 0-10 in top 25 heavyweight fights in 1989, with 9 of those vs Tyson and one vs Spinks. Well yeah, but 90% of those fights were against the best boxer in the world.

I get that. But Mullen's average final opponent A/P ranking of #10 is pretty comparable to Freeze's #11 and easier than Butch Jones' #7.5.

I understand it's tough to beat #2, #7, and #5 in 2013, but that doesn't mean it's okay to lose to #14, #17, and #18.

And I'm not

saying it is. Again, I'm not sure I'm getting my point across. I am not happy losing to top 25 teams over and over and over. My point is that saying that he cannot beat top 25 teams is a little misleading by those that contiue to push this agenda. The reality is he's done terrible against top 10 teams and slightly** better vs teams ranked 15-25 (through 2012). I think a better way to judge, would be to compare winning percentages of coaches vs top 25 with an average final AP ranking of those teams.

I don't fault him for his record vs top 10 teams, especially in Y1 & Y2.

Here's a good question for you..
Which games vs the Top 25 should we have won out of those losses?
09(LSU), 10(Auburn & Arky), 11(SC), 12(NW), 13 (none) ??

We both play in the West. It's tough.

Freeze has faced like 9 top 25 teams. All but two were in the top 10.

He is is 1-6 against the top 10 and 2-7 against the top 25.

We face the same challenge. No excuses.

Yep, should have won a lot of those games and you could put '13 Auburn on the list. There's no way we should have been 0-6 in those games. Of those the ones I can squarely put on mullen are probably '09 LSU (give it to Boobie) and '12 NW (tell TR to hit the showers or call nothing but runs)

What happens if Prescott takes every snap against OSU and Auburn (who is missing from your list, btw) last year?

Looking at Bob Stoops`record tells me that a top 25 Big 12 team is obviously not as good as a top 25 SEC team.

You can't be serious... Bob Stoops inherited a **** storm at Oklahoma when he assumed the HC position. Oklahoma plays good teams in at least one OOC game every season during Stoops' tenure, in addition to the Big 12 schedule. Alabama, Florida State, UCLA, Notre Dame, Oregon, etc.

If Dan Mullen left MSU and Bob Stoops was in a position where he wanted to leave Oklahoma, you and every other MSU fan - including me - would be begging Dr. Keenum to get the money right to hire him. A tenure as long as his at the same team - which again absolutely sucked when he took the job - to accumulate a record like that? You don't know what you're talking about.
