I mean - we are surely not a title contender for the Sun Belt, but are we just awful at basketball? Do you see at least the fundamentals? Free Throws, rebounds etc? OR are we just horrid?

Up 33-21. Playing well... and this is without Steele.

We appear to be a basketball team. Something that we haven't

been for the past four years.

There is an obvious difference in hustle and effort...

as well as pace. Our fundamentals seem wishy-washy, but that is because we play so faced paced. Think of last year's Arkansas team... we are playing well in transition, but we are turning the ball over a lot, too. FAU is horrid. This year will undoubtedly be an uphill battle, but the effort, teamwork, and heart seem to be there (along with some shooting... Thomas and Sword are going to be very good). We are also relying more on the offense to create looks instead of forcing shots. That's a refreshing positive.

We are pretty bad offensively, but work really hard on D. We may actually be able to beat some teams based on that, but good offensive teams are gonna tear us a new one. Gotta maintain the effort we're getting right now and develop some offense along the way (and by that I mean over the years).

Edit to add: I mean bad offensively from an individual skills and talent standpoint. The effort is good.

Up 29... putting our foot on their throats and not letting it off. Outscoring them 29-17 thusfar in the second half.

This kind of relentless basketball seems almost foreign to me...

35 bench points. Stans managed to lose to this team just two years ago...

Wow, Ellis went just a tad overboard with all the *** kissing on twitter tonight. Was he watching our team play or did he go to Duke by mistake? IMPRESSIVE win over mighty FAU

Post Game Thoughts

Watched on HailStateTV tonight, liked what I saw. It's like we rolled back the clock ten years style-wise. Play tough D, create turnovers, pound it inside on the offensive end. And that's not a bad thing, we had a ton of success that way and started having less success as we moved further away from those roots. Roquez Johnson was doing a heck of a Brandon Vincent impersonation. We need to always have a guy like that who just brings his lunch pail and cleans up everything near him. Fred Thomas is our best offensive player, and if he can keep hitting open jumpers he'll be the one constant threat we can have. Sword needs to be playing the 2 more than the 1, he's obviously less comfortable in the roll. Bloodman scraps really hard and isn't terrible. Ware seems to have potential.

We will struggle against good offensive teams who won't turn it over because not only will they score more, we won't score as much due the lack of transition opportunities against turnovers. We just don't have enough guys who can create their own shot on offense, but hopefully that comes. There seems to be a light at the end of this tunnel, or at least a smidgen of hope.

/Wool grows fast.
//At least it was fun to watch.

We were up by 30 at one point, without Steele. Super fun team to watch.

Ultimately, our lack of depth will kill us. And Steele getting injured makes things A LOT tougher, so hopefully he isn't out for a long period of time.

I know that FAU is terrible. But we were all begging for any kind of win, and we totally dominated the game.

Other than Maui, the non conference schedule isn't bad. I can see 12-15 wins.
