I like Bart Gregory, but he has struggled keeping up with the action this series.
While Jim does a fantastic job with our baseball games, I want to sneak in the press box and hang up a sign reminding him to tell the 17ing score at least once every ten minutes.Jim almost gets so caught up in painting the picture of whats going on that he forgets the basics. HeIS theBEST baseball guy in the conference, hands down. His only issues are his pronunciation of the words "statistics" and "sixth". Other than giving the score and his butchering of these two words, the guy is gold, Jerry, gold.
As for Bart....the guy worked his way up through the ranks. Cut his teeth on high school sports doing a damn fine job of it, and then used his professional career to work his way into his dream job of being in the broadcast booth for MSU sports. He has gotten where the rest of us high school and juco announcers can only dream of. The guy is living the broadcast dream, and I for one, am proud to see him in the booth. That being said, Bart's delivery and annunciation are spot on the same as Jim's. Most broadcasters borrow their delivery from someone, but most arent working with that someone. If Bart would come up with something of his own and not borrowed from Jim, he would be much better in the booth. I have heard him do some damn fine games, he just needs to go back to his roots and work more with his own delivery instead of Jim's.
Now with all this being said, broadcasting baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports broadcasting. For anyone who thinks that they can sit there and talk about the game for 3 hours nonstop, keep it interesting between pitches, and not make an *** of themselves over the course of the season, more power to you. I am sure than Jim needs the break, and Bart does as well. Just be sure and tell us the score.
