You hear the ping of the bat and then he stutters, you hear a crowd roar, and then he starts laughing and goes back over what just happened. He's normally a little better but it may just be a bad weekend

I know that he gives Jim a little bit of a break but I just don't think he adds anything to the broadcast.

I just like it when Jim calls the games.

Well, I must be in the minority too. I don't think Bart is so bad, but Jim is great at the play-by-play imo, so anybody would be a downgrade. I didn't think Jim was at his best today, either, but the game was so odd with the unearned runs and our blown opportunities, then the controversy at the finish, which Jim and Bart didn't explain nearly as well as I would have liked. They both seemed tired to me. In fact, Jim even said he was tired. In performance, you should never seem tired, even if you are (adds Captain Obvious).

Anyway, thanks to the poster who gave me the tip about 105.9. Still can't listen in my truck, but at least I can hear the games at the house.

Is maybe Jim do the first 3 and last three innings, Bart do the middle innings, and then have a former player as an analyst for the entire game.

A former player I could see. Maybe he gives some insight to a pitching change or how you approach a certain at bat. Something that most listeners don't already know.

I feel like Bart is attempting to be a comedian or add comedy to the broadcast and I have no desire to hear him run his mouth.

I guess it is just years and years of listening to Jim call the games and now we have this guy acting like a goofball half of the time interrupting the broadcast.

I am certain Bart is a good bulldog and have nothing against the guy personally, I just don't want him in my ear during our ballgame.

of the play by play guy and enhance the play by play guy by being attentive and alert to his or her expertise and draw out the talent. I thought that the color guy who worked with John ???? the ex coarch of the Oakland Raiders..was able to mostly keep his mouth shut ( maybe his name is Michaels..he's on with Chris Collinsworth now) but would defer to John's talent and allow him to expand on it. A lot of these guys simply don't know their role and simply quote stats and other ******** only because they're not really confident and don't understand why they're on there to begin with.

Welcome, Bart. It's nice to see somebody get on here and take **** for what it is, not whine and be a *****. I like that. As for your commentating, you're in the booth with a legend in my mind, and you're already better than Kellum's **** ***.....so you're doing a good job. Keep improving bc you'll be a good replacement for Jim one day, and you seem like a good bulldog, so thanks for that too.

the emotional rollercoaster that IS Jim Ellis drives me nuts. "TOWERING SHOT.. THAT BALL IS DEEEEEEEPP I DONT THINK....well it looks like the left fielder's gonna gather it in at the warning track." "There's a ground ball and a flip to second but the relay to first is not gonna be in time...well did they call him out at first? It looks like they called him out at first...well.." It's a tough job. And I am not calling for his head. I just want the score and situation more often than he gives it and for him to let the umpire make the call before he does.

I have walked by his office in the Bryan Building before and seen SixPack up on his computer screen. We really do have eyes in the athletic department. I wouldn't be too terribly shocked if he has another user name that he posts on. He's a dog through and through so wouldn't be surprised if he posts on multiple boards. He's the closest thing we have to David Kellum, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Meant as he is/was a fan first. And now he gets to live his dream. Consider me jealous.

Jim is the WORST. I barely care about baseball as it is and when I do tune in its always in the 10 min period that he doest give the situation or the score. Plus his voice and accent rake my nerves.

As far as Bart goes... He seems like a very likable guy. I get 95% of my MS baseball news from his twitter feed.

What sort of accent does Jim Ellis have? To me, he sounds a lot like Jack Cristil, who is basically accent-less.

It's not necessarily an accent to me it's that his voice sounds fake. It doesn't sound natural at all. Obviously that's gotta be his real voice considering how long he's been doing it, but there's just something about it that seems so phony. I prefer Kellum so I can hear every player called by his nickname. For example, T-watt for Terrence Watkins. Yep, he really used that for an entire basketball season.

There was something special knowing ol Jim was flying solo, set up on a berm behind the backstop with a card table and a three legged stool, gusts of wind blowing his **** everywhere. I miss the interruptions where some unknown soul would bring him something to eat or drink and you heard his appreciation.

While Jim does a fantastic job with our baseball games, I want to sneak in the press box and hang up a sign reminding him to tell the 17ing score at least once every ten minutes.Jim almost gets so caught up in painting the picture of whats going on that he forgets the basics. HeIS theBEST baseball guy in the conference, hands down. His only issues are his pronunciation of the words "statistics" and "sixth". Other than giving the score and his butchering of these two words, the guy is gold, Jerry, gold.

As for Bart....the guy worked his way up through the ranks. Cut his teeth on high school sports doing a damn fine job of it, and then used his professional career to work his way into his dream job of being in the broadcast booth for MSU sports. He has gotten where the rest of us high school and juco announcers can only dream of. The guy is living the broadcast dream, and I for one, am proud to see him in the booth. That being said, Bart's delivery and annunciation are spot on the same as Jim's. Most broadcasters borrow their delivery from someone, but most arent working with that someone. If Bart would come up with something of his own and not borrowed from Jim, he would be much better in the booth. I have heard him do some damn fine games, he just needs to go back to his roots and work more with his own delivery instead of Jim's.

Now with all this being said, broadcasting baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports broadcasting. For anyone who thinks that they can sit there and talk about the game for 3 hours nonstop, keep it interesting between pitches, and not make an *** of themselves over the course of the season, more power to you. I am sure than Jim needs the break, and Bart does as well. Just be sure and tell us the score.

I haven't listened to him much since I go to all the FB games and don't listen to basketball or football (primarily because it's not on the radio here). The only time I hear him is in the postgame show after football games, and then not very much.<div>

A LONG FLY BALL, DEEEEP, WAYYYYY BACK....caught by the 2nd baseman. Also, remember Jack Cristil's most important rule-let people know the score and the time every two minutes. I feel like I'm listening to David Kellum waiting to find out how State's doing in a baseball game.
