I live in Seattle and work in a big office that has tons of UW fans.

Most people know that I am passionate about college sports, particularly MSU related sports. Wanna guess how many people have mentioned the CWS at work either directly or indirectly to me? You can count them on zero hands. Completely different college culture here. 1st time in Omaha, and no one has a clue.

I kinda get it. College baseball fandom is an inch wide and a mile deep.

So they think of college baseball the way we think of things like tennis, track and field, etc.

I suppose they're in an area that's more into major league baseball than college. I sort of understand ... I go to all MSU football home games, but don't really care much about baseball except this time of the year, and then I only watch it on television. Might sound heretical, but I've only been to one MSU baseball game in modern history, and only stayed a couple of innings then because it was so hot. That was during a Super Bulldog Weekend around the turn of the century.

Yeah this is the thing that surprises me. It’s one thing not to be a college baseball fan, but to have zero knowledge of your baseball team hitting a historical postseason achievement- that’s surprising to me. And not the general UW public, but from the few fans who actually tailgate at football games. These type of people should have at least minimal awareness. Heck, I even had people reach out about women’s basketball last year. But baseball? Nothing.

This just means they will beat the hell out of us. That's usually how this works.

I’m headed to Seattle Friday. Will be there (M. AF base) for eight days. Where should I watch the game Saturday night/afternoon?

FWIW, my UW grad cousins reached out to me Monday morning to start a week of trash talking. There are UW baseball fans out there.

I know a beer hall in the Basic Training area at Ft. Lewis that had a pretty good TV set, or at least they did in 1971.
Not really all that far of a drive to Tacoma to get some cheap beer and a good TV set.

Seattle is one of the few places where you can actually walk to work uphill both ways.

Somewhat related: I just graduated State and am moving in July to the Seattle-area to work at Boeing. I am going to live on the north side of the city near UW, any good bars to catch SEC football in the fall??

Thanks and hail state

47 years ago. :) Did they have color television back then?

This is absolutely true. I can tell my future grandchildren “I walked uphill both ways in the snow” without lying and berate them for being the lazy bastards they will be.
