Nutt been texting his wife or something? I haven't seen many State fans go after them like that.

Those of us that don't understand Finebaum's gig are actually pretty ticked about it.

However, a lot of us can see that it's just a pot stirring piece filled with the type of misinformation that will get both Bama and Ole Miss fans going. He's a smart guy, and he's playing his audience. If I recall, he picked us to win the West only a handful of weeks back. It's all about finding a way to stir the pot today.

A weak pot-stirring piece at that. If he's gonna stir the pot, he should at least come up with some thesis to support it. He's basically saying bet against Ole Miss because they haven't won big since the 60's - and huh, let's overlook the fact that Ole Miss is sporting their best football team since the 60s.

Weak.

What do you think his listener base gives as reasons why we won't be good? The same reasons. He knows that. He also acts like the Mannings are the only reason we've won anything in the SEC despite the fact that neither was a part of any of our SEC titles. He knows that too, but he knows his listeners spout that type of stuff, and he knows that he'll get them calling in about it this afternoon.

are torn. They **** themselves over the laudatory write-ups. But then they **** themselves when you remind them that they are one concussion away from Billy Tapp.

he basically just says we can't be good because we usually aren't.

There are plenty of facts he could have used to back that idea, but just going on the past is pretty weak. He could have pointed out holes at LB and OL, but didn't.

Yep. QB is the key to their season. If Snead stays healthy they will be very good.

Very weak and you're right, nothing to support his prediction other than opinion. Typical Finebaum dribble.

At least point out they lost 2 first round draft picks or something to back up your claim, otherwise just mentioning the lack of Manning makes it sound Egg Bowlish.

That's not what he said. What he said was bet against Ole Miss because they are Ole Miss. Which I do! They are consistence losers who choke like Mama Cash eating a ham sandwich. (even though she died of a heart attack). They can't help them selves and once they as Ole Miss Fans accept that fact the less stress and happier life they will have.

I really get a kick out of hearing these Ole Miss guys at my office. They will have a good season. They got some talent and they are playing a weak schedule however they will not win the West because they are Ole Miss.

They have one or maybe two more descent seasons left however once this talent is gone they will be back to the same old "we were good once team" that they were two years ago. Nutt is not a good recruiter. He is lazy and he saw a quick opportunity at Ole Miss to build his resume and once this crop of talent is gone which will be in about two years, Auburn will be looking for a new coach and Nutt will be gone and Ole Miss will be in the same boat as Arkansas, no talent.

For a coach, it is all about timing!

It's funny you say that. We, as either Ole Miss or MSU fans, know deep down inside that he's right. It's painful to read things like that because he doesn't have to have any stats or solid theory. It's just one of those things - like rooting for the Cubs or Saints. They can have all the talent or potential in the world - but most people just know they are going to crap it all away. Why? Because they are the Cubs and Saints.

If MSU had talent equivalent of the 1985 Bears lined up for this coming up season, my expectation would be for us to, somehow, screw up it and choke it away. It's the Mississippi State way.

And don't tell me you wouldn't expect that from Ole Miss either. Choking is the way of Mississippi SEC athletics. I spent the first 18 years of my life raised as an Ole Miss fan. I got the same taste rooting for them as I do now for MSU. The thing I've learned as being a fan of both is never to get your hopes up - they are both going to rip your heart out one way or another.

The problem with Finebaum saying it is that he's not one of us. He went to UT - he doesn't know what it's like to be a State or Ole Miss fan. It's okay when we admit that to ourselves. But, when some jerk off radio personality says it, it has no merit. I'd have the same response as you if it was State going into the season with high expectations and he said the same things about us. But, he'd still be right.

To prove your point, Miss State 2001 football season, we should have been very good competing for the SEC west championship; in fact many projected us to win the West that year but ended up having Troy State beat us at home for Home Coming and getting shut out 52 to 0 by Florida. To further your point we beat Ole Miss that season who won seven games and we only won three. That season burned my *** more then any I can remember. I had high hopes and got by bubble burst.

and I'm not scared of us choking right now. Nutt and Austin are apparently a badass combination, and I like it. I just think we have some things to prove before I predict us to be in a BCS bowl.

I like Nutt. I liked him at Arkansas and I like him now. Austin hasn't shown my anything. Mississippi has average to above average coaching. Nothing special.

Mississippi simply has Coach Orgeron to thank for their present situation. It is exactly the scenario I predicted when Orgeron was hired there - that he's stock the cabinets and leave, enabling the next coach to come in and win immediately.

players love him, coaches love him, and everyone says he's basically an offensive genius. Even CFL coaches say he can any receiver open, and has some badass plays.

Well, he did have a 12th offensive player to work with in Canada. Not to mention a 25-yard end zone for receivers to get open in.

what I meant was his offenses were considered innovative and new even in the wide open CFL. I think his presence helps Nutt's normally conservative approach.

I think they are going to choke too. Why? No reason. Other than that they are mississippi.

That's just my opinion. It may be wrong. It may be right. We'll see.

While they will still be a good team next year the top 10 expectations most of their fans have will not come to fruition. Are...you....ready.....
