Question about the the gamecast pitch grid: Does the red box represent the strike zone?

If so, either the gamecast is inaccurate or the umps are, because there are alot of strikes being called balls and vice versa.

Are you looking at whether the it was a called or swinging strike? It does state on the side which one it was.

Having said that, it shows the location irrespective of what its called so you can get an idea of when an ump misses a call.
