Tonight was a ridiculously huge win. Need to make sure Saturday is not a lull.
I don’t have a great read on that game. OU is spiraling downward in a hurry, now 3-10 in the SEC and lost five in a row. But they are a good 3 point shooting team so that’s a concern with us. They were undefeated in nonconference play but have basically played themselves out of the tourney in conference play. Saturday is definitely a must win game for them.

Guess we will see if OU shows up desperate or if they have now just laid down for the year.

Yeah OU hasn’t really done anything at all in SEC play. Only wins are South Carolina, Vandy, and Arkansas. They’ve gotten throttled a lot, too. They do have some really good noncon wins so there’s a little bit there with them.

We should win and I expect us to be a road favorite. You just don’t know sometimes when you’re playing a desperate team on the road. They’re not only playing to stay in the NCAAT conversation but their coach is on the hot seat as well. I’ve seen that go both directions with teams like them.

It’s also still going to be a Q1 road game so even if we lose, wouldn’t really be a bad loss or anything from a metric standpoint.

See..this is why I struggle to get excited about One of our teams until tourney time. Losses should never be rewarded. OU is 3-10 in conference play. State has no business losing to them, but somehow if State does, it's okay because it's a Quad 1 loss. Poppycock! It will suck to lose Saturday. Tonight was a big win at home, but already, excuses are being made should we lose to the 15th or 16th ranked SEC team! I hate that! Don't do it! No excuses! WIN!

I didn’t say it wouldn’t suck if we lost, I said from a metric standpoint it wouldn’t be a “bad loss”, which is true. I still expect us to go up there and win. Worse teams than us have won in Norman. We should expect to as well. But it’s not some major momentum derailing thing if we don’t win.

We can’t take them lightly. They are desperate and have to view us as a must-win game.

They don’t just hand out quad-1 wins for stepping off the plane.

Will be a bit of a sleepy environment I think. Their home attendance of late has not been good. Get in price on SeatGeek for this game is currently $8 after fees.

9 wins is within reach. Will we 17 it up?
Anything less than 10-8 at this point would be a failure. Taking into account the season long conference schedule, dropping all 3 home UK, Bama and Mizzou games, this roster should do no worse than finish 10-8.

I am a little pissy though because I predicted a 12-6 record, 4th in SEC finish in my friend pool for $100 pre season. I hit every game so far except for UK and Mizzou.

Edit: I take that back, I had us beating Florida and losing @Ole Miss

Oh good grief. The SEC is the best basketball league ever this year. You take what you can scratch and claw and get and be happy with it. Unless you are way below 500 it's a decent record.

That means men’s hoops has won big and all the doubters are too embarrassed to talk
We've hosted 4 top teams in Starkville. We went 1-3 in those games. And now that we've got the one win, those who were disappointed are doubters and embarrassed to talk? Okay champ.

I have an alternate theory: People on here root for State. When State wins, they are happy and they post once or maybe twice about their happiness. When State loses, they are upset and want to vent. They post a lot more then. Maybe they aren't haters or embarrassed. Maybe they're just fans.

I really don't have any question this is the best Mississippi State basketball team that we've ever put on a court. The final four team will always be the most memorable until we get back to the final four, but this team had a much more difficult SEC schedule than that team had that year.

The Final Four team beat perhaps the best team the SEC has ever seen. Kentucky had something like NINE future NBA players that year.

You want to trade places with OM basketball after we beat them twice

The last stretch of games isn’t as easy as it seems. We know the struggles against Bama and it’s in Tuscaloosa, Oklahoma is certainly a winnable game but could be a bit of a matchup problem, Arkansas is playing much better basketball as of late and it’s on the road, and LSU can get hot at times from outside the arc but it’s at home which will help. Texas to me is the most winnable game in the stretch. It’s at home and they are in a bit of a spiral.

I do feel State is playing much better defense lately and have a bit of swagger back in their step. We will see if that continues. That was an absolute gauntlet of games and they looked worn down.

I say all this to say they certainly could slip up in one or maybe even two of these “winnable” games coming up but saying it’s a failure is silly talk.
