I trying to find out if there is any damage in the Bigbee Valley area. I have a camphouse on Pumpkin Creek(Tenn-Tom) and watching the weather channel and weather underground radar it looked like my place may have been in the path of the storm. I am about 100 miles away and none of the neighbors are answering the phone. 4 County Power has about 4000 customers in Noxubee County with power outages so the neighbors cordless phone land lines may not be working. Anybody got any info?

Storm tracker on the radio

Just said that it crossed hwy 45 about 6 miles south of Macon. He said it cut a path about 500 yes wide and snapped pines in half. He said the pine smell was overwhelming. Not sure if this tells you anything. There is a Video on WTVA , tupelo TV, of the tornado, but it doesn't give the exact location.

The video they showed on the weather channel was a few miles south and west of Bigbee Valley. Bigbee Valley is about 19 miles east of Brooksville on Hwy 388 just before the Tenn-Tom Waterway. The gas station/truck stop across the Hwy from our neighborhood drive isn't even answering the phone.

Thanks for the info.

Call the gas station in Pickensville. Does the road to your camphouse have the electric gate or the next road down?

Yeah it has the security gate and a sign that says Pumkin Creek Private Drive. It's right across the street from the Tenn-Tom One Stop. The next road down goes to the grain elevator.

I can check your place for you tomorrow maybe. I'm coming up for a tournament out of Columbus and I plan on locking to aliceville. Pumpkin creek is my favorite place down there. The tournament is Saturday benefiting the MSU fishing team. I may can check tomorrow evening when i get up there or Sunday morning when I head back to the coast.

I have spent many weeks and years down that same road at a camp.....one of my favorite places of all time. It would be horrible if anything got destroyed down there. I will try to ask someone and find out.

I can't remember this mans name but he is retired from the forestry service and he lives there on the pumpkin creek side on the water. He is one of the nicest men I have ever met. I was practicing for the state tournament on the same Day the smithville tornado and Tuscaloosa tornado came thru. This old fella came out there and found me and warned me that a tornado was headed in that direction. He offered up his house for shelter if I needed it. Me bein the cocky bastard I am didnt think much of a little tornado, but I got scared when I started seeing pieces of trees falling from the sky. These trees were not blowing off the bank, they were from the sky. Make a long story short I ended up taking the man up on his offer. He pulled his little boat out of the water and tied it to a tree and he let me put my new boat under his boat shed and we tied it up. My dad and I went in their house to ride it out. The tornado ended up going just south of us luckily but it ended up being the same one that went thru Tuscaloosa. I have told this story a hundred times and I wish I remembered his name, he is a very thoughtful and nice man.

There is quite a bit of damage in Pumpkin Creek on the part of the road near the boat ramp. The area down near the main river, from what I was told, is not that bad. Hope yours is ok.

My contact called back and said from what he could tell using his flashlight. That there didn't appear to be any major damage at my house. All the screen is blown out of the screened in porch. Big trees down all over the lot and drive way but doesn't look like any trees hit the house. He said the heaviest damage is the first house and there is less damage as you go toward the river main channel. I'm going to gas up the truck and chain saw and head that way in the morning.

Of the tenn-Tom truck stop of damage in that area. The Storm's path went from Shuqualak to Elon to prairie Point to Pickensville. Lots of damage

That's good to hear. You must be pretty close to my brother/sister-in-law's place. They had a lot of damage from what I can gather so far. Don't know the extent yet.

From the pictures looks like roof peeled off and trees fell on roof. Looks like a major mess. There are a good many pine trees around all the camps and they snap like twigs....so I can picture what its looking like over all. Sure you can relate....hey at least the structures are still standing.

Shrubdog which house are you talking about with the roof peeled off and trees on the roof? Can you post the pics? Who is your friend down there? When I say my house I'm meaning my family's or Dr. Forbes camphouse. A lot ME grads may have been down there he usually has a cookout for his students every year.

My parents own the first house on the river side of the road. Talked to my dad last night, he's heading up there this morning with a generator and some supplies to help out. He's been told only a couple trees down on the river side of the road, nothing on any of the houses. the creek side of the road got it the worst.

I'm headed that way in a couple of hours. If anybody needs some tarps I can stop by Harbor Freight on my way out of town. Talked the homeowner in the 2nd house from boat ramp he said his roof is blown off and it's a disaster area. He advised I would need a chainsaw to get to my house. I'm not very confident my first scouting report of the damage at our house is accurate.

Thanks to everyone that provided me with some info.
House has minor damage to the screen porch and some trim. I got real lucky trees down on all four sides of the house but none hit the house. The path of the tornado was down my driveway and behind the neighbors house east of me. Others were not as lucky. I posted some pictures on photo bucket if anybody wants to look at them.
