I noticed that the BDC...

Never been over 10K. I think when Byrne started - we were around 6000 or something like that.

Another example of pitiful. When I graduated 5 years ago I signed up, donated a couple hundred dollars and was immediately ranked somewhere around 3,000. So with only the leftovers of my first paycheck I was already up there with the big shots.

It is low, but a little misleading

I mean I buy four tickets under one membership. I'm not going to have an account for myself and my wife.

Each account probably averages 5 or 6 fans

Do they enforce the "only transfer the account once rule." When my grandfather

passed, it got transferred to my mom...so I started an acct. 4 or 5 years ago solely to get the consecutive years giving up. Is there any system in place to enforce that? I.E., if I make it to 70, my mom would be over 100 and most likely dead. Or...going further, when my daughter makes it to 50, my mom would be over 115.

Does anyone know if they actually have a system in place to prevent a 200 yr. old from continuing their account?

when I went to the UGA game a couple of years ago they ran an ad on their screen thanking their 8,000 Bulldog Club members.

So, unless they have a different club that people join, I don't see it as that bad.

Yep. Often people have their family on their business account too or vice versa.

I'm sure the license plates include a lot of "sidewalk fans", as opposed to nearly all the BDC members being alumni. And, and lot of the BDC members don't live in Mississippi ... I would guess about half live elsewhere (like me). There are something like 2500 alumni in the Huntsville-Decatur area alone.

For what it's worth ... UAT has over 100,000 license plates in Alabama. And I'll bet that at least 80% of those never took a course at UAT.

When I hear "sidwalk fan" in relation to MState... I get a rush of Navin Johnson through my veins. My only offcial tie to Mississippi State is being a one semester drop out at MSU Meridian. I rank 1660 in the BDC and have two MState car tags.

Just a tid bit.

I grew up an MSU fan because of my dad and a few other family members that are alumni. Although I attended college elsewhere, I remained a Bulldog at heart. I have a BDC ranking somewhere in the high 1900s and have been buying season tickets since about 2000, but last season will be my last as a BDC member because of the reseating fiasco and those of us that need to add seats not being able to do so after being specifically told when the reseating plan was first announced that I would be able to add as many seats as my giving level allowed. I'm sure Stricklin won't miss the money they get out of me every year, but I have 4 potential future MSU students at home who won't be getting much exposure to MSU now that I won't be a season ticket holder

Nothing wrong with that. If fact, you are no doubt a more loyal fan than most alumni. I still suspect that the BDC membership is composed mostly of alumni, whereas the car tags are a way more non-alumni fans show their support. And that's OK too.
