I read where Nafoom thinks we are in for a huge drop-off next season......

In talent and wins/losses, which usually go together. Rebelbruiser of course weighed in, with his pals, saying our 2009 and 2010 offensive line classes were weak, and that we whiffed on a bunch of OL prospects that year.<div>
</div><div>Well, I'm not sure I see it the same way. I know I compared the cycles of MSU and OM a few weeks ago, but I don't think our recruiting was THAT damn bad. It was average. It wasn't anything that really hindered us. We may have screwed the pooch getting OL in Croom's last few classes (or at least since that's the party line - but in reality injuries are what's killing us). </div><div>
</div><div>So my question is, what's the big dropoff next year? Do we have any NFL caliber players leaving? Mitchell, Ballard? I don't really know if they are or not. Sounds like wishful thinking on the rebs' part to me. If they aren't NFL caliber then they are definitely replaceable. We'll get Tobias Smith back, and the freshmen linemen we are playing (Day, Clausell) will be a year older. Gabe Jackson will be a veteran. Yeah you hate to lose seniors but damn I don't see just a HUGE dropoff anywhere. I mean, our big money class is graduating in 2012, not this year (Cox, Boyd, Bumphis, Banks, etc.). We WILL see a dropoff of some sorts in 2013 at least with graduation.</div><div>
</div><div>Not to mention that we'll be playing as the underdog again next year and hopefully our heads will be screwed on right again. ****, I only see us getting stronger under Mullen. We'll have some experienced depth across both lines in 2013.</div>

...that we are 0-3 in the SEC, fighting for our lives to win 6 games so we can make the Herman Cain GodfathersPizza.com bowl, yet they still think we have talent to drop off.

The classes that Mullen brought in were supposedly SO terrible, I guess because he had everybody hyped up and we thought we were going to dominate. But in reality they weren't any different than the classes that every coach for MSU has ever brought in. Difference is, we have a guy who can actually coach, and specifically quarterbacks, which we've never had. So yeah like you I'm not so sure we can really drop off. At least no worse than this year.

just a matter of if they can play or not.<div>
</div><div>I really hope that JUCO guy can help us. Or that we bring in another JUCO. Maybe Maiden will be ready next year as a redshirt, like Gabe Jackson was last year. He was a bigtime recruit if I remember right.</div>

I think we're solid in the middle with Dillion Day, Gabe Jackson, Tobias Smith (assuming he comes back).OT is frightening though: Blaine Clausell, Joey Trapp, Justin Malone, Archie Muniz.

Damien Robinson will bounce between the two groups.

so they're hoping we'll drop off soon. We'll be better defensively next year (we lose only 2 starters and 2 off the 2nd team), and offensively we'll be about the same. We only lose 13 off of the 2-deep. The only area there will be a dropoff is OL and if we get Tobias Smith back healthy even that won't really be a dropoff.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Holy hell, I hope we land that JUCO OT with a solid offer list. He might be the most important recruit of this next class. Sad that it took us this long to figure out we need OT help...
