Maybe I'm just being a contrarian...but I interpret tonight's news like this.....<div>
</div><div>Stricklin emphasizes State has nothing on any school.....in exchange Cecil admits State's told the truth and allows us to save face......in exchange......Cam is an innocent bystander and thus.....though a NCAA violation technically occurred, the penalty will be ethics seminars for AU players held for one hour on June 1 in the Auburn weight room.</div><div>
</div><div>Plausible?</div>

...once the NCAA started investigating this, there will be no deals. If they have advised Auburn that Cam may be ineligible, and they continue to play him, even after Cecil's admission, Auburn will get nailed, no question.

I don't think a deal being brokered by Slive is out of the realm of possibility. But the **** is already out of the horse.

that's a big hole in my scenario. But I don't believe in coincidences and I know what was said by Cecil and Stricklin tonight was carefully crafted.<div>
</div><div>Guess I'll change channels on my crystal ball and figure out some winners for tomorrow's games. I've been Swami-esque this year so far, btw.</div>

<div>Coordinated.</div><div>
</div>There seriously was a deal. Every major player just issued a statement in their defense and acknowledged some wrongdoing but specifically didn't incriminate the other parties!<div>
</div><div>I thought Scott's email was ballsy but now it seems perfectly written to tie them all together. The onus will now be on Auburn to plead for mercy from the NCAA and I'm sure that Slive will be more than helpful. I just wonder if the NCAA buys this charade.</div><div>
</div><div>If it works everyone kind of wins, Auburn the most. Slive looks like he's not a giant piece of ****, State was right in our assertions and John Bond's name is cleared , Cecil falls on his sword but not too badly, Cam is spared, and now Auburn can pretend they had no idea. Auburn wins out and then goes to the BCS NCG and the SEC rakes in our usual **** ton of cash.</div><div>
</div><div>We better get a damn good bowl out of this ********, and Slive better back us for the NCAA tourney this year. I hope we don't cave for cheap.</div><div>

...I don't doubt at all that there's potential for Slive to be orchestrating all of this. But the NCAA is investigating. They've already advised Auburn that there may be eligibility isses with Cam, and to play him at their own risk. The NCAA does not start investigating stuff like this unless something is there. As much as Slive wants this to go away quickly, it's not going to. And it would take either an Auburn sheep or a complete fool to believe that a father with his hand out ended up sending his son to a school for free, especially when he had offers on the table from other schools, like what is allegedly on a tape somewhere.

Cecil`s statement makes Slive look like the clueless power brokering crook that he is.

really think a deal can be cut with the FBI? Wasn't gov't intervention the only reason Alabama got burned on Means?

particularly the guilty types that have dirt on bigger fish...it is very common.<div>
</div><div>I don't want to back myself into a corner defending a position that was 75% "cloud talk" in the first place, but, for the sake of discussion.....what else could be Cecil's motivation for coming forward? Repentance? Not bloody likely. Again, just saying it's plausible, but maybe the FBI's part of the deal is the testimony of Cecil and Kenny Rogers. After all, come Tuesday, or whenever they meet with Bond, they will have all the probable cause they need to start issuing subpoenas, so Cecil would have incentive to squeal. And the FBI short circuits an obstacle slowing its pursuit of the bigger targets.</div><div>
</div><div>Admittedly, I could be completely off and I damn sure don't know anybody who knows anything. But then again, I've seen a lot of deals go down in my career, and there are a lot of events transpiring right now that set off alarms.</div>
