you can try to convince me, but I am behind him. I know how this season ended sucks, but would we have even been in the position to be disappointed without him? But, again, part of it is I think he is a good man on all fronts, and that he represents Mississippi State very well.<div>
</div><div>The last two years areaberrationsmore than the norm. Maybe some staff changes need to happen, but sometimes you just get some bad eggs, and you didn't know you had it when they get on campus. We have had a bunch the last 2-3 years. I think he has learned from this and you will see a hungry team, hungry coach next year, with guys who will lay everything on the court every night.<div>
</div><div>But again, this is just one man's educated opinion. Flame away...</div> </div>

Rocky Felker is a great guy. Should we fire Mullen and rehire him as head coach?

"I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb mother17er! What
kind of ignorant **** is that? "I ain't never been to jail!" What do you want, a
cookie?! You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having
mother17er!
Wanting to keep Rick because he is a good man is rewarding himfor doing what is expected of everyone on the planet. The reward should be for building a strong basketball program that achieves, at a minimum, what their talent potential will provide. And better yet, the potential should be surpassed because the wholeends up beinggreater than the sum of the parts. In the most recent seasons under Rick, the wholewas MUCH less than the sum of the parts. A collection of players doesn't make a team and that is what we have had for a while now.

Easier to win in or not, he did it. More than countless other coaches in this conference at the same time. Yeah, he isn't Calipari, but he has done well, has won and has raised our expectations in the process. If he is guilty of anything, it is to not living up to himself the last handful of years. I know he doesn't like how this year ended any more than any of us, but I think it will be rectified. But I guess I am crazy and you guys are right.

1. This isn't the only season that sucked. We haven't had a goodonein five years.
2.There's millions of good men out there that are bad coaches.
3. He does not represent MSState very well. Hehas brought us national embarrassment fortwo years straight. What the hell are you talking about? Everytime an analyst talks about us, it's negative. They can see it too. Even when we win, usually.
4. How are the last two years different from the norm? They were very normal.
5. We have bad eggs because wedon't worry about that. They transfer because our coach can't handle them.
6. Being a hungry coach doesn't all of a sudden make you a good one after 14 years.Afterseveral years of ****** effort, whywould it be different next year? Stop going on your homer hunchand open your 17in eyes, man.

but we don't pay him $1.3 million a year to be our neighbor. We pay him to coach basketball, get to NCAA tourneys and compete for championships. He doesn't do that so he should be fired. If your employee doesn't get the job done, do you talk about what a great guy he is? No you fire him.

If everyone is content with likely disappointment and no post-season success in basketball, that's fine. Let's just cut the budget and pass the savings on to football - Chris Wilson needs a raise.

7-8 wins in football get you to post season play. Stans hasn't been in meaningful post-season play for 3 years.

Err, not to be snide but let someone help build his own schedule, and go 8-8 (on average) ever year in a SEC can look awfully good with career numbers if a school lets him slide with no kind of expectations for 14 years. One thing to keep in mind is he happened to coach a lot of his career when the SEC had two divisions and the schools in his division were mostly focused on Football. All the Good to Great SEC West coaches were already gone or were fired soon after Rick started as a HC. Wimp Sanderson, gone, Dale Brown Gone, Nolan Richardson, Gone.<div>
</div><div>So he has Coached during an exceptionally weak period for the SEC West in basketball, so much so that MSU is one of the big reasons that the Divisions were eliminated in Basketball.</div><div>
</div><div>I can really only think of one person analogous to RS and his time here, and that is Houston Nutt at Arkansas. Like RS, NUTT managed to coach most of his time at Arkansas when the SEC West was down, leading to 3 SEC Championship games. Because the West was mostly down during his Tenure at Arkansas, and because he always lobbied for a horrible OOC Schedule, Nutt left Arkansas as one of the winningest coaches There, with a horrible postseason record (2-5).</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>I should point out that I'm not saying that Coach Nutt (while at Arkansas) or Rick Stanbury are bad coaches, just that in both cases their value (based on winning percentage) is overinflated because of certain condition, some which were under their control (OOC Schedule) and some that were not (Weakness of the SEC West during their prime)</div>
