I stomached the game again last night and noticed

that Tech had a minimum 7 guys in the box the whole night. Sometimes up to 9. We've got to get our QB out from under center just to give him a 5 yard headstart. Tech never got our of their defensive scheme and we should have run some inside slants to our one on one receivers to drop some of their guys back, but we didn't. Their corners were off of our guys a good 10 yards and when we did the throw out, it worked. We will, yet once again, see this all year unless Croom decides to spread it out. When we were on the goal line near the end of the half, he runs right to the short side of the field twice. The first was a safety that we got away with. For what it's worth, I did see some hope and our defense was not that bad. That QB got off some passes right before we put him on his ***. Our O-line I thought did a decent job having to block 5 on 7 the whole night.

Well if don't think every team that watches that film is not going to put 7-9 players in the box all game you are wrong. Part of being a good coach is finding ways to outsmart the other team. Obviously a trait Croom and McCorvey are lacking.

And for our defense looking good, did you see how many passes LA Tech's receivers dropped. Any defense can look good in that situation.

but why is Croom so anti shotgun? I know he claims you can run more formations with the QB under center, but....forget it.

checking off when LaTech had 8 or 9 men in the box. You have to make them pay in the passing game when they do that.

Now, you can say that we couldn't do **** in the passing game and I agree with that and that is what I'm pissed about. Checking off to the pass is the right call.

Really? Honestly, I don't remember. I just remember this coming up one time with Croom and him saying something about having more options if the QB is under center.

about how he was pleased that Carroll had worked on his foot work since he didn't take many snaps under center in HS. Which made me think that he was wanting to run more plays with Carroll under center.
