I think 14 will do it, maybe 13.

Presume for a moment we get to 14 wins. To pass us, Auburn has to also get to 14, meaning they must get seven more wins with 1 against USC, then UT, at UGA, at Ark, and UF. Seven is doable so it would be nice to see USC polish off the sweep to make it more difficult.

If we are at 14, UT has to get to 15 meaning they need 8 wins with series at AU, Vandy, at UM, Arkansas. What's best case for them in that? Seven?

Vandy is at 6 and also has to get to 15 meaning they must go 9-3 against Bama (1 game) UK, at UT, at LSU and UM. Not gonna happen.

Bama is at 6 and to get to 14 would need 8 against Vandy (1 game), at USC, MSU, at UK, and UGA. Outside shot. They almost have to have tomorrow's game and two out of three against us. If we take two from them, then they have to be at 15. Tomorrow's game with Vandy puts the loser way behind the 8 ball.

Bottom line of course is we need to keep winning. If we can pick and choose we need to be big USC fans starting tomorrow.

are you talking getting into a regional.

I'll say this- our series against Ole Miss is huge for us. It would be helpful if we won that series because that would put us at 10-11 with Bama next.

if we are in the top six, we are a lock. If we're 7-9- we will be on the bubble. 7-8 probably on the good side of the bubble.

I would think that if we won 13-14 we would definately be in the middle of the conference somewhere.

I just don't see any way we get in with 13 SEC wins without making a strong run in the SEC tournament. Our non-conference schedule and results are going to hurt us if we don't make a good case for ourselves inside the conference.

First, the final four non-conference games are must-wins

Second, the 13-17 has to include at least one against Florida, Kentucky and Ole Miss .... There is a chance that Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss and LSU all end the regular season in the Top 10 (Top 15 for sure) ... a win against each of those would help tremendously

13-17 including three wins over Alabama and then two wins against the power three would not be as good (yes I know that 13-17 with three powers wins would mean a loss to a bad Alabama team, but I think that is overlooked more easily if you have another RPI Top 10 win to show)

The complete collapse of Auburn (which is presently ongoing) helps us tremendously

I'm afraid at the end of the year we're going to all look back at that weekend and say, that's where we lost the regional bid. That is by far the most disappointing weekend of the season to me.

It willbe interesting to see what happens if an eighth seed loses out the first game while the ninth and tenth seeds win one then lose out.</p>

1) After LSU & Kentucky, it's a free-for-all.

There are no impressive league records after LSU & Kentucky.

Who finishes 3-12 will be determined literally the last day of the regular season.

2) If MSU's pitching keeps up its current pace, all the whiny bad-mouthing is a moot point. Because MSU will finish strong, & be a lock for a regional bid.

UK notwithstanding, MSU does not face another team with an impressive league record.

it will really get interesting. We may already be in at 8th, but may need one win in the Tourney. Gonna be damn close

We played the Auburn series injured, the committee supposedly takes those things into account.
We also need to be fans of whomever plays Georgia- 7th place is there for the taking if we can play well. 7th place = NCAA bid

Unless of course you are like Auburn last year and end up under .500 and ineligible for the invite.

or twice ever, and that was with 8 teams. With 10 teams in now, 14 should be a lock with 13 a pretty safe bet. Even 12 would have a chance, but maybe not a good chance. But, the days of all teams making Hoover also making regional play are over now with the expanded field.

We probably sweep.

And coming into this weekend they were the hottest team in the country. We were two injuries away from sweeping them on the road.
