an OM reliever would be done for the year. Word on Nafoom is that Rory Mckean is now ineligible due to academics.

That's really hard to do.

Yeah McKean was the name I heard. I decided to not state the name because the reason being academic sounded kind of far fetched, but it was from a good source.

but I imagine it's just like football where you can be ineligible for the bowl games if you don't make your grades in the fall. If your spring grades come in too low, I guess you can be ineligible for the postseason in baseball.

The one positive is that Barrett has come along lately as a pretty reliable righty out of the pen, which has limited some of McKean's innings. So at least we have another option for that role. Still sucks to lose him, because he was probably one of our top 4 or 5 arms out of the pen, but it could be worse.

than those idiots.

Hopefully they will get bounced from the SECT tomorrow, and end up being shipped somewhere out west.

So, basically, he pissed off Bianco or he pissed off his teammates to the point where they went to Bianco and voted to get rid of him.

That said, I would take him here at State if he's off the team. He had a decent arm, and probably would have been our closer.

I am going to stick with my claim that it is due to academics. Why would you make a personnel decision to leave pitcher home when you are already down your best starter?

Hopefully I will be proven right when he doesn't pitch in the regional.

If you read between the lines, nothing Chuck said contradicts him simply not being academically eligible. The "personal situation" could very easily be a failed class.

While still possible, that's very hard to believe. The following is from his profile:

Member of the "All A" Honor Roll at Trinity Presbyterian School ... Earned Academic All-State honors in baseball, basketball and football ... Member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the National Latin Honor Society ... Won the Harvard and Yale Book Awards ... President of the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes ... Senior Class Vice President ...

Perhaps he failed Molecular Biology 461! If he did fail a class, I imagine it isn't because an effort wasn't put forth.

From a quick search, McKean was also on the 2006 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll and 2008 SEC Academic Honor Roll. These require a GPA of over 3.00. Couldn't find anything on '07.

I played for his dad. He and his dad were two of the dumbest 17ing people I have ever met. How the two of them even made it to the ballfield every day was amazing. His dad's practices consisted of him telling us how great him and his buddy were in high school. Tracy would have been riding the shortbus if not for baseball. The fact that you couldnt see this, suggests that maybe you should have been in the seat next to him.
