I think the Confederates have a hard time again hiring a head coach

like they did after Cutcliffe. Here's why:<div>
</div><div>1. They are a bottom feeder that thinks they should be much more than they can be- many of their fans cant get over the 1950's and 60's. They are delusional enough to think they belong in the top half of the SEC. Back-to-back Cotton Bowls are their summit- not their norm. Being a bottom feeder in the SEC West trims their options down</div><div>
</div><div>2. They have shown to have a quick trigger on coaches- Cutcliffe- one losing season and gone....Nutts takes them to the best back to back seasons in 50 years- fired 2 years later...potential coaches will definitely keep that in mind when having to play LSU, Bama, and others every year</div><div>
</div><div>3. Oxford is a ********- it's Grenada without the lake. I dont care what some writer wrote in a national paper- I've been there many times- it sux. It is small town Mississippi- just like Starkville. You can spray that turd with cologne, dress it up, and shine it up nicely- but it's still a turd. They may get lucky and find a guy like Mullen who likes the small town atmosphere- but the odds arent in their favor.</div><div>
</div><div>4. Money- having to pay off Nutts and crew isnt going to help the situation- and will probably force them into hiring a coordinator wanting to get that step ladder job. I will be a little surprised if Kirby or Gus takes it.</div><div>
</div><div>5. Keeping Boone around another year- a new coach doesnt want to come in not knowing who the new AD will be in a year. New AD's have a tendency to want their guys in place- not the previous guy's hires.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm sure Bruiser will be here to set me straight in 5....4...3...2...1</div>

they have to pay a new coach, buy out assistants, etc.

That rumor of them dipping into their facilities funds to pay off all this debt and future expenses seems more like a reality.

much better schools. It has a minimum amount of violent crime as well. There are a lot of quality of life issues that set it apart from "every small town in Mississippi."

"we've raised about 40 million of the 150 million goal, that's the last numbers I saw"

They have 26% of their goal ?

I'm a pragmatist.....if a theory isnt proven in practice, then you are wasting oxygen talking about it.

You don't follow much football, do you? Cutcliffe was mediocre for several seasons, and it was obvious to everyone the best he could do was Eli's senior year, which while going to a Cotton Bowl, we still lost to MEMPHIS. Most fans wanted him gone for years and for a short window gave him a pass to see what Eli could do. He wasn't fired based on one losing season.

Wow. If you want to out yourself as a gas-huffing super-homer, say Oxford as a town sucks. You're like a three-year-old playing hide and seek who yells out "daddy, I'm behind the chair."</div>

Either you know me and are trying to push buttons- or you are mad Grenada got the lake instead of Oxford

Either way, Oxford is just small town Mississippi with a super WalMart

This is Ole Miss. They know no other way to recruit other than cheating. They cheated with Sloan and he may have been oblivious but Fourcade and his brother were bought from day one. I will guarantee you the bag men will fill the coffiieurs and the only folks who might get hurt are C.J. and some of his buddies who might get cut off and their money will go tot he new recruits. I look for a whole new staff with maybe a couple of holdovers such as Brewer but the Nix's said:
Look for recruiting to fall a bit. Newcomer coaches don't like to play the risky game of pay for play.

If it was as great as the bears think it isthen people would be burning down their homes through out Miss and the rest of the country to move there. Oxford is a very old town but the population seems to be stuck at 14K or so.

If you like small towns it's great. But your options are very limited on dining out, entertainment, and shopping. Not to mention the horrible traffic on game weekends and the fact that everyone is all up in your business all the time.

He won more games that Cotton Bowl year than MSU did when it went to Atlanta.

It never ceases to crack me up this "not good in 50 years" smack from a team that has done worse.

private school at its finest .... I am not going to defend Oxford on a MSU board ,but you sir will be nothing more than a walk on who cut not cut it you 17 gold chain wearing BagofDouche ....

To the rest of y'all ... I wish you nothing but success in all sports ... Finally I hope Ole Miss has leaned how to do business as y'all did when you got rid off LT ... The better y'all are , the better we should be and would be awesome for the state of MS.

Never could get the obsession. The campus is nothing special. The town, like most, has nice parts and ****** parts. And there's a small part of town based around a circular road called the square with several bars within walking distance of one another.

I suppose if I were a fan of the school I might look fondly on this insignificant place, but to me it's just another place. It's Starkville with 5 helpings of arrogance.

Leach or Baby Bowden are the only big name coaches with any prior head coaching experience they have a shot at, otherwise it's a young coordinator for the Bears.
Just look at the hiring and firing processes of the last three coaches, it's not pretty... No current head coach would take the Bears job unless he was wanting to retire and needed $10-12 million extra.? It's a dead end job.... I doubt we see the Nutt as a head coach ever again...

my point is that Mississippi is a bottom feeder SEC program yet its fans still cant see that- State fans know that we have been a bottom feeder

Even Boone wasn't planning on firing Cutcliffe. He just thought he could dictate staff changes and was forced to fire Cutcliffe when he found out Cut wouldn't budge.

It was a stupid move by Boone. It wasn't impatience, but keep touting that if you want. We are what we are, and we'll be able to land a quality coach from a smaller program (Freeze/Hudspeth type) or an up and coming assistant (Malzahn/Morris type). That's what we need, and you can't convince me that those guys would be scared off from coming here. Hell, Malzahn may take a pay cut to come here just to have some poetic justice against Nutt.

and I could be wrong, but don't they currently have some serious attrition issues? Bringing in a new coach usually brings its own attrition with it, so they could be looking at some low scholly player numbers for a couple of years, which ain't a good thing with the upcoming schedules.

because you have a town full of people wearing polo shirts, bow ties and designer jeans doesn't mean your town is great.......I spent a good bit o' time over there and it wasn't anything special.....Another small MS town with a Sunflower food store and a Wal-Mart........

I have said this about Oxford for 20 years. Ever since the Egg Bowl has moved back to campus. The place never impressed me....So what, you got a square. So does countless other obscure towns throughout the south. Oh there are bars on this square? Well that is just special.

Yeah, Oxford is nicer than most MS towns. But odds are the next head coach isn't coming from a MS town. I imagine he will be coming from Jonesboro, AR. Hell Jonesboro is no garden spot but it has a lot more to do than Oxford.
