If people will watch the 2nd half of the Ark game again one more time and be honest with themselves, we had no business winning that game. We did for two reasons

1) Kamario Taylor
2) Shapen getting absolutely bailed out on three separate 3rd/4th down passes in which Evans or BT made amazing catches

I’m not hating on Shapen, but just calling a spade a spade. He wasn’t exactly throwing dimes during that comeback
I was saying this a few weeks ago. On the game winning play, it was 4th & the game and Shapen throws it short of the first down marker (because of course he did). If the Arkansas defender had actually locked up on Evans and made the tackle, we lose that game. Shapen didn’t hit him in stride. Evans was stood up and we’ve been stopped short of the first down marker on that same play multiple times this season. Luckily, the defender whiffed on the tackle and Evans scored.

I was at a wedding yesterday and stayed away from the score and watched early this morning. After that **** show in the 2nd quarter where we ran 3 QB draws inside the 5, get bailed out and a fresh set of downs, run another QB draw up the middle that goes nowhere, delay of game penalty, then ANOTHER QB draw up the middle on 2nd and goal from the 10, then the botched field goal snap, I immediately skipped to the end so I could see the final score and then turned the tv off. It was one of the absolute worst sequences I have ever seen in my 30 years watching football.
16 plays, -19 yards.

At that point, I said “17 this sнit” and went with my wife to Michael’s and bought Christmas decorations.

I was kicking myself when I saw we had closed it to 21-17 and was kinda wanting to get back home, but within what felt like only a couple of minutes, Shapen had thrown 2 pick sixes and it was 42-24 and I felt like I had made the right choice again.

Yes I cussed the idiotic decisions, clock management, etc. That being said, I felt like he was pushing us the right direction and would get us there. After last night, I really don’t think I feel that way anymore. I think back to mullen’s first year. Outside of the the goal line series against LSU, I don’t think I questioned Mullen much at all. I was ecstatic. And we only won 5 games. This doesn’t feel like that at all.

I need the more level headed posters to tell me if I am just being emotional or if I am right on this one.

I reluctantly have to agree. We have regressed as a team. We had some marked improvement at one point this season; however, we have gone backwards as a team and as a coaching staff.

Last night was the most M-State thing ever. Lebby had more than proven he was making progress, and now every bit of that momentum is gone for good. It’s gone from “he just needs a little more time” to “get his fat *** out of town yesterday” in the span of a couple weeks. Yesterday’s game was about like Croom’s last stand in the egg bowl. The horrifying thing is that he’ll likely get beat even worse at home in the egg bowl.

We are 17’d. This is 100% on Keenum, and he will never have to answer for it.

Yep, we are 2 very lucky plays from being 3 and 8. Broken coverage against Arizona State and this play.

Lebby has zero feel for the game while it’s ongoing. He calls plays like he’s got top line players on every level when it’s obvious it’s not even close to that. He’s not coaching the team he’s actually putting on the field he’s coaching the team he wishes he was putting on the field. Maybe he’s insane I don’t know but it’s damn well infuriating to watch

This is the giant red flag to me. Team regression falls squarely on the coaching staff. Add the bone head goal line debacle, and going for it on 4th with 13 to play is the cherry on top. Lunacy.

This team was in a precarious position. At one point during the season, they could go one way or the other. It was totally up to our coaches. They decided to push it, unfortunately. We saw the result.

He has the hard headed mentality of JoMo and his playcalling and that’s pretty alarming.

He’s not going anywhere unless some of these money people throw big enough fit to force Selmon’s hand. Even if he were let go I don’t trust the hiring process with anyone involved. You guys throw out all these names and it’s never any of them anyway. He will just hire some other coordinator and get a rinse repeat of the same thing.
You are right, but maybe we won't be going for it on 4th down from the 20.

Yeah I’m way less interested in him after the last two weeks. I can live with losing to Georgia but I expected more of a pulse at home. Mizzou this week was extremely beatable with any semblance of a run defense and some more dynamic QB play and we let this team with no QB run us out of the building.

Didn’t have a big issue with where things were coming out of Arkansas but I’ve lost all faith in Hutzler and am concerned that Lebby is too loyal to his friends to do what needs to be done. And also just don’t trust him to improve the roster enough or to not make at least one or two crazy in-game decisions per game.

I’m still pissed at Mullen for leaving. I really think that team could have competed for the West.
we had the opportunity to bury OM during that time frame. they were reeling. and we completely squandered it with Mullen leaving and the JoMo hire. now they have that opportunity to bury us, and they're definitely not squandering it.

JoMo had the luxury of maybe the most talented defense all time at Mississippi State. His offense was atrocious.
Nobody said Moorhead was a genius. I only said he never did anything remotely on the scale of the dumb shít that Lebby has done for the past month.

Moorhead’s problems were the general complexity of his offense and his constant meddling and bleeding the play clock while changing the calls made it difficult to keep rhythm. Those were chronic, systemic problems. But he generally didn’t do acute, situationally idiotic crap like Lebby does every single quarter of play. And even after all that amazing talent left, he still cobbled together 3 SEC wins in Year 2, and a bowl game.

That’s perhaps the scariest fact of all. Joe Moorhead, a coach who we rode out of town on a rail after two years, could coach circles around the guy we have currently….who a lot of poor souls want to see return for Year 3.

I wasn’t arguing with you about it, I was just pointing out they both suck. I couldn’t care less where you rank JoMo vs Lebby.

I hear you on replacing him. But there's at least a chance we get someone better. We already know what we have with this clown.

You’re damn right they both suck. Hitler and Jimmy Carter both sucked, too. I mean, who really cares which one was worse, why, and by how much?***

I will go to my grave saying that team would have won the SEC and been in the national championship discussion with Mullen coaching
Nah, we'd have gone 10-2. Would still have lost to LSU and Alabama. Didn't have the pass game to overcome their defenses.

Maybe if we had signed AJ Brown......

I never understood what Lebby had done to have anyone think he was moving things in the right direction. I will give him credit for clearly upgrading the talent this but he’s wasting everyone’s money. The fact that we got people committed to making sure we can secure players on the NIL front is great, but there is no way I’d throw my money at a program with Lebby in charge. He’s a joke.

I made a post before the season started that if Lebby got to 5 wins I’d shut up about wanting him gone. I guess if I didn’t watch the games, I’d have the ability to be impressed with going from 2 to 5 wins but actually seeing the results makes me more confident than ever that Lebby is a disaster.
the main thing people say is that he has kept the players focused and engaged. Sounds like our defense is not giving it all.

So, correct. He was never a hot commodity. I misspoke. I meant he was headed towards it early, and now is a laughing stock.
Thanks for the correction.

The ONLY thing this team has done to excite anyone was the upset (at the time) of AZ St. Beating 2-8 AR w/ an interim coach and players already looking for a new home shouldn't excite anyone. N IL is 3-7, Alcorn is 5-6, USM had a new coach, 30+ new players and it was their first game of the year, they are 7-3 now. Last season was wins over little E KY and lowly UMASS, the worst college football team (so far) of the 2020 decade.
So, to date he has beaten in two seasons E KY, UMASS, Alcorn, USM, AZ St, N IL and AR. That still leaves his conference record to date at 1-14 w/ a Top 5 Team coming to town. The overall record of the teams he has beaten to date in two seasons are 34-41 playing in small conferences. Nobody is coming to poach him

Numerous. The main thing is that he had zero discipline. By year 2 players looked markedly more sloppy and less physical. Not to mention the penalties.

Lenny has some of that going on right now too.
I’m seeing some similarity between Joe and Lebby. I think Joe was sharper and more competent though. Joe was way too stubborn and had an inflated ego, couldn’t adapt.

Same, believed we should let this and next season play out for many reasons. Last nights performance has me seriously questioning that
The ticket office just thinks they had a hard product to sell THIS season. Wait till next season when fans look back on this shat show of a season and then look at the latest price of tickets, seat fees, parking, hotels, meals, concessions, etc. I don't envy their job at all.

Actually TWO players whiffed on that tackle/play

Nicely put, hadn't actually thought of it that way. That was the main thing Mullen did when he came here, he evaluated what he had and put them where they could be most successful and that hasn't happened here in two seasons.

This.

He's an odds on favorite to be back next season because of how improved we looked for the majority of this one. But it's going to be a complete disaster all around.

I gotta feel like the smart and large money that supports the program saw Saturday what we saw and something broke in them too.

I guess it's possible that a complete azz kicking from OM could get him fired and save us from a completely wasted season, but I'm not sure of that at all.

This is terrible...

5 conference home games next year as well, don't think the AD won't see that as an excuse to raise ticket sales.
