The bottom line: The first chance at something special, our coaching staff failed, blew it, choked, sucked, licked and swallowed. Nothing more you can say. That is not improvement. Improvement is a young coach coming in here and not coming close but winning. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. You can blame it all on player execution or whatever you always accepting fans come up with, but you look at your players and good coaches know who will get the job done. We will probably get better, but the our coaching staff failed the first time under the gun with the game on the line. Argue if you want, but you can't argue the scoreboard.

everybody just feels sorry for you. Eat 27 Tylenol to ease your pain. Please. It will help us all. Hell, make it 30 for every point LSU scored

...after learning he called a jump pass. Lee should have been able to execute that. Instead, he tries to throw a dart.

on third down we call a play and the receiver is wide *** open. All Lee has to do is toss it and instead he throws the ball on the line and the only guy in the stadium that can knock it down, knocks it down.

On fourth, if Lee pitches, like he's supposed to, Dixon walks in.

I still think we should have sneaked the ball at least once, but both plays could have easily been TDs if Lee gets his head out of his ***.

because everybody on the board knows how I feel on most things. And after the way I draw people into basketball discussions, I know when the bait is being cast.

Good luck dummy

if there wasnt vast improvement already, we wouldnt be having this conversation!
first, i may be a minority, and this may have been discussed further down the page, but i truly believe dixon got in on 2nd down. say all u want about bad calls and what ifs. but even if dixon didnt get in we were literally less than an inch from winning this one. it has nothing to do with excuses, but acceptability. we knew coming in this season we would struggle. and we're already better than i expected to be this yr in total. if we continue to get better we could actually be a pretty good team by years end.

instead of Dixon or 6'3 235lb Chris Relf at the foot line, or even a pumped up Ducre. You have to know your players capability and Mullen ran that jump pass with much taller QB's in his past. It is simply a bad call with a 5' 10 QB. Should have sneaked Relf, run dixon again, optioned Relf--nothing fancy. They wouldn't have stopped Dixon two plays in a row. Enough with picking apart that pass play--BAD CALL.

a coach isnt allowed a bad call? even the best coaches do it. if we score there and win, was it a bad call then? i agree that i would have run dixon 4 times there. but im not questioning the coaches that got us to that point. where the credit for that. last yrs crew and we're down by 40 at that point and who cares. u need to chill and see whats really going on.

3rd down- We win and you'd find something else to ***** about. It was a good call because everybody bit on run including Jones he just barely tipped the ball as he was going to tackle Dixon.

4th down- Do you not understand what a triple option is? Lee had a choice, no he had 3 choices hence the "triple" in triple option. He made the wrong choice by keeping the ball. Its outta Mullen's hands after the play is called.

I respect your opinion. You had no name calling, just a difference of opinion. Thanks. I just don't see the improvement. We beat a better Vandy team last year, should have beat Auburn and Kentucky. I don't see us winning 4 games this year. I really do hope I am wrong and will gladly eat crow. This game just brought back bad memories of the 11 plays inside the ten when we lost to Ole Miss. You have to punch it in and we don't have a QB with enough ability to be cute with the play calling. Run Dixon and dare them to stop us. Oh, well, I have to get over it. This one is very, very hard to take. Man o Man.

qb and what one is with a 6'3" 235lb qb is. Why wasn't Relf in there on that call or for the whole series? He could probably throw a jump pass better than Lee. Was he hurt? If not, that was totally in Mullen's hands.

Anything short of a National Championship, or at least a trip to Atlanta, and Mullen has failed this year. What a loser...

Maybe you should give up following sports altogether.

You are a complete MORON.....if you had a "Redheaded Mexicans" shred of DNA intelligence in that swollen melon you call a head.....I am NOT a moral victory "Drum Major".....I hurt with this loss as much as anyone, I did question some calls by the staff....the difference is I actually have some semblance of reality to the talent level left us by one of the worst coaching staffs EVER compiled in college football history....less the staff Gerry Faust removed from his rectum at Notre Dame.....with that all being said...I live in the real world of SEC/Mississippi State/College football....we have a LONG, LONG way to go...but we are light years ahead of where we were...therefore...I give a bit of slack to this game/team/head coach and staff....you how ever should call the nearest person connected to the border patrol and have him escort you to the US/Mexican boarder so you may search for the afore mentioned set of relatives.....

The first time you 17ed up at work, not royally but still a good 17 up, did your boss come up to you and fire you on the spot because he assumed you would screw up everyday? Hopefully, if you have a professional job instead of flipping burgers or something like that, your boss would cut you a little slack. You learn from your mistakes. Do you honestly think Mullen will not gain anything from this experience? I've seen more adaptation and actual thought go into our gameplan in the last four games than the previous 6 years combined. However, you seem to never actual learn and adapt. You have the same mentality Croom had. You view the world statically, as if neither you nor anyone else can change things. Problem for you is the world is run by dynamic individuals. Chew on that for awhile and come back with a reasonable argument.

to the position of a stay at home Dad. I did have a professional job (I have a Masters from our beloved Mississippi State), but my boss fired me the first time I screwed up--no write ups, office meetings, etc... We had two others out in our department, and I was fired because I could not do all three jobs on that one particular day--seriously. What makes it worse is that the Vice President came in to fire me personally. He didn't even know who I was. He just showed up to fire somebody. Bam, now you know my ugly, little secret and I will probably be bombarded with comments of loser, lazy, etc. So maybe that is why I have no tolerance, because none was ever given to me.

This loss was hard as hell to take. I wanted to vomit. But, from my view, the improvement is obvious. And for the first time since Sherrill was coach, I actually feel like good things could be on the way. We'd win a game under Croom, even a big game, and I still had no confidence in us playing well the next week. Maybe my somewhat blind faith will get me burned this year, but I think we are getting better. We can win some more games this year.

there are two kinds of people in the world those who have been fired and those that will some day be. So 17 you and your pity party and sack up.

There is no pity party. I am a stay at home Dad and love spending time with my kids. I never said I didn't have money or am even looking for a job. But thanks for the words of encouragement. Things get better every day.

if we :

1.) Run Dixon or Ducre up the gut and get stuffed, then so be it.
2.) Bring in Relf and run QB sneaks twice and get stuffed, then so be it

but I don't put the ball in Lee's hands given his size (or lack thereof) from the goal line in that situation. As a coach, you put players in position to win. We did that up until the last 2 plays on that drive. God I hate LSU and their carny, corndog fans. This one's hard to take. I hope we can shake it off and win a couple of more going forward.

That was a bunch of ********, and we should rehire Croom immediately. I'm glad that I'm not the only complete moron who sees this.
