I see that the Buffs sites have picked it up... but it's startling how close to OM this rumor has started. Sounds like a recruiting ploy to me.

I actually heard the same thing this morning. Freeze has always stated how he likes the rural life that a TTech kind of school offers. It's going to be hard for him to turn down an offer that's comparable to what he's making in Oxfords.

Freeze ain't going to TT. Tub was only making 2 Million. Even in the Pirates best days he made less money than what Ole Miss and State are willing and capable to pay a coach. The big loser in theTexas Tech deal is Sonny Dykes. He is a TT alum and I bet the job would have been his from day one. I bet he wishes he had held out another week or so.

Why Wouldn't Freeze Leave for TT?
1. He likes playing with other people's talent.
2. He never stays at a school for more than 2 years.
3. He's the lowest paid head coach in the SEC.
4. He can coach his "air raid" offense at TT and not have to worry about defense.
5. He's still the "interim" head coach at TSUN.
6. He's done all he can do at TSUN.

The strange thing is trying to understand why...
Ole miss would try to create or even propagate this rumor. There are two reasons that come to mind and neither make sense based on the current party line from UM.
1) they are doing so poorly in recruiting that they had to do SOMETHING to slow the train and give them an edge. But this makes no sense...all UMites that I talk to say they are recruiting like gangbusters and they are days away from a top ten recruiting class.
2). Another explanation is that they are still afraid of the Mullen/State combo. But that's crazy as Freeze proved he could beat Mullen this year. You would think they would want him to remain here...

How the 17 did you fall for it twice? Is it so important for you to convince State fans of the excellence of Oxford that all common sense disappears?
I've been to both. Lubbock makes Oxford look like the old, rundown, racist MS town that it has always been.
I never understood why people rag on Lubbock. Isn't it a town of 350,000 people? Maybe people from Austin, Dallas, or somewhere rag on it because in comparison to them it sucks, but I don't think Oxford can bounce into that argument with any credibility.
