I wonder what is in Dorrell's closet to settle for only 14K?...

She's complicit in Petrino's actions. She accepted the job and the 20k payout. She could go public and sell her story which would generate more negative press for UA, but right now, I'm not sure how much worse it could get for them.

I can see her getting $100k for that, but only if it's soon. Whereas a trial would take years and she might not get anything, and posing would kill her credibility. So if she was considering posing, she realized it was better to take a quick settlement.

1. Arkansas keeps Petrino but fires Dorrell. She could then sue big and cite discrimination that she got fired and Petrino didn't.

2. The relationship didn't start until after she was hired in the football office. She could then sue big for harassment claiming Petrino pursued her and she gave in to the pressure because he was her boss and she feared she might lose her job.

With Petrino also being fired and the relationship predating her hire (and his authority over her), she lost 99% of her leverage.

she's a ***** who was cheating on her fiance with a married man and costing the University what one of the 10 best coaches in college football. There would have been risks to the university it it went to trial, but unless she had ironclad proof of a quid pro quo threats that arose after her employment, she most likely would have just further drug her name through the mud and gone through a trial that depending on the strategy of UArk, could have lasted multiple years. All the while she would be toxic to any other employer, because it's generally a bad idea to hire employees that like to screw around with married men and then sue their employer when things get bad.

As it is, she certainly doesn't come off well, and probably is going to have to spend some time doing **** jobs while this blows over, but at least after a few years of staying out of the spotlight, she can blame this incident on being young and stupid, and not have to also explain why she thought it was a good idea to try to extort her employer.

the JB Hunts, Wal Mart Waltons, Tysons, Dillards, Stephens, Rockefellers, etc don't have to disclose their contribution to shut her up and shove her out. She could have played hard ball, stuck around and made life miserable for those that worked with and around her and caused a big commotion come this Fall when all of the talking heads start doing interviews before ballgames. Im betting she got a lot more than $14k privately.

Was she working for UA in some other capacity before she got the new job? I missed that part. If that's the case, I guess she could allege that she was the victim of harassment. If not, it just sounds to me that she gamed the system by getting a job she didn't deserve by banging her future boss before the interviews.

"Dorrell will get $13,933.75..."

they probably took out the repairs that had to be done to the copier that wild night before the motorcycle accident.

it really just harkens back to the addage: It's not who you know

Yes, I'm no HR law expert but I'm surprised she got a dime. Her only shot at a law suit was under quid pro quo. Has anyone won a quid pro quo law suit after they got the job? Obviously she agreed with the offer to get the job and to later be riding around with him on her own free time.

She basically took a large severance package. Even if the University was confident it would win at trial, I bet she could have milked it for at least a year's salary. She is 25 and more or less unemployable and un-datable by any guy with options, so although it would have been bad for her to go to trial, the University definitely had more to lose from a trial.

It's possible she got money from private funds in a side deal, but if I were her, rather than trying to milk money out of it, I'd be offering to go away for nothing in exchange for a commitment from a booster to provide any decent job for at least two years to avoid having a one or two year gap in my resume. But I'm not sure the typical 25 year old that goes around screwing her 60 year old boss thinks that far ahead. You'd also have to have a pretty committed booster with a wholly owned, privately held company to be willing to invite that kind of problem into their business, but I bet that's not a problem for UArk.

she now goes somewhere to restart her life.

I still want to know how she was totally scratch free, yet Petrino has bad road rash

I don't think we know that she was totally scratch free. All we know is she didn't go to the hospital and went into hiding for over a week. She could have gotten banged up pretty good. Also, it makes sense that Petrino wouldtake the harderbrunt from the accident since he was in front. I think she probably just flipped right over him and the bruch pile and landed on the grass.

I think this is a fair and reasonable settlement for both sides. As others havesaid, she's going to have a tough job showing she wassexually harrassed when she started screwing him months before the job was even open andI can't imagine how miserable her life would be if she tried to keep the job and stay in Arkansas. Best thing for her to do is take a quiet settlement, leave and try to start over somewhere else.

she is leaving with a lot more than $14K. And, Arkansas is hoping the 'extra' paid continues to buy her silence.
