UNC will be a distant fourth in the ACC this year behind Duke, UVA, and Louisville. The three at the top will have some fun trying to get to the top. Heck, UNC may end up behind the Cuse and VT. Now wouldn't that be something?
If we do split this year, I think it will be away and away wins, not home and home.
Interesting. What makes you believe that?
We will sweep Unc this season.
Roy continues to load up on the elite talent. Sterling Manley. Massively sought-after THREE star talent. National rank? 252. Position rank? 61. Lol...

He is tremendously underrated.I know this because Gary7 told me

steat says Manley will be a 5 star his senior season. Ole Roy will not even need to perform his usual developing of recruits on this one.
The only guarantees in life are issued by the UNC dept. AFAM.Certainly not a guarantee. Anything can happen.

"Power #2 position!" Go Roy Go!!!!

I'm sensing Roy's "power dump squats" are going to be epic this year and especially next year!
Love your characterization!!

Don't credit me! Credit Roy, he is the author to his own book, I'm just the reader! lol.
You know I often wondered If he needs MORE of Wander's naner' puddin to get more fiber in his diet!

We're not splitting with them this year. We're just not. I understand the rivalry thing, but this year the discrepancy in talent and coaching will not allow them to beat us.If we do split this year, I think it will be away and away wins, not home and home.

Also, that Sterling Manley as a Junior will be equivalent to a Freshman Harry Giles.
Roy's ability to "coach up" players ain't his strong suit. Sure , some have improved under 'im but his track record in that area is spotty. When it comes to players ranked about the same as Manley , well , it's flat-out awful. Britt , Copeland , Hubert , Stillman White , Watts , Simmons etc. Stiffs , the lot of 'em. These kids just do not end up being productive players for Roy. Manley gonna break the mold? lol
Yet the goofs over at THR always brag about how Roy coaches up big men and when a top big turns them down they don't get it. They now use Brice Johnson as proof of Roy's prowess in this area. Lol.
Not unlike his mentor DES who did less with more than any coach in history.Iused to think they were great recruiters both it was rather easy to recruit when you were selling a no class or work required degreeI've never understood the hype with Roy Williams as a coach. Obviously, he isn't a terrible coach, but a great one??? If it wasn't for his ability to retain 3-5 top 10 HS players for 3-4 years, he wouldn't have a single title. Roy is a systems coach and does less with more. We will truly see his coaching abilities if his 2017 class continues on the path they're on.

Was not that long ago UNC fans mantra was that K selfishly held his players back.My the times they are a changingThat's one part to the equation. Also, I firmly believe that recruits have noticed Roys tactics when developing top tier talent. Roy has a niche of retaining top tier talent for multiple years. Could you imagine how many titles K would have if he was able to keep these guys longer like Roy??

Agreed there was a chart on this site recently which showed that all but one of Roy"s recruits was drafted lower than their HS rankings even after multiple years at UNC.I directly asked Carolina Blue to comment on this to date no responseThat's one part to the equation. They are trying desperately to portray K as selfish. Even if they contradict themselves in the process. Was not that long ago UNC fans mantra was that K selfishly held his players back.My the times they are a changing
. Were it not for Roy's unique ability to turn highly-rated recruits into multi-year players , we'd already be seeing the decline on the court.
He was top fiveI would be interested to know where James Michael McAdoo ranked nationally coming out of HS. After a big splash his freshman year, that was one of Roy's CLASSIC CASES of UNDERACHIEVING with a player IMO....There was SERIOUS SPECULATION he was headed to THE LEAGUE after his freshman campaign. He is in the NBA now, but is nothing like the player "experts" were talking of after his rookie year at UNC.Consider if McAdoo had achieved the prosperity his upside showed his freshman year??? The McAdoo factor did nothing to help recruiting for Roy....

His late-season performance pushed him into the lottery of many mock drafts.

Also returned for his JUNIOR year as well. How'd that work out...?
McAdoo came to the Tar Heels as an emerging star with hopes of being a lottery pick in the NBA draft after his career in Chapel Hill. Those ambitions fell well short on Thursday night, as the two-time second-team All-ACC player fell out of both rounds and is now simply looking to crack a roster.
Thank you , Roy. Don't ya PUSH a kid out the door if the draft position and money's there? Another note. According to those ESPN rankings , only THREE kids in the Top 10 weren't OAD. Thomas and Nash both stayed 2 years. JMM? He stayed in college the longest. 3 seasons. Only TWO players in the Top 15 stayed 3 years. Birch and , of course , JMM. Ya have to drop down to the 18th , 19th and 20th-ranked kids to find anyone who stayed LONGER than JMM. Oh yeah. That dadgum scandal ( or "junk" as Roy calls it ) has hurt unx recruiting. Please.
