the end of Feb/beginning of March, imagine what he'll do when one of our left field loungers tries to feed a team that just beat us in our own Regional. Of course, I hope we never lose a regional game at home, but I could just see him trying to get that person's spot revoked in the outfield. (And deservedly so.)

You're that opposed to being hospitable? Grow the %#%# up. They're not enemies. They're people. Win or lose.

...I agree to the extent Cohen's new Ty Cobb approach to MSU baseball will not go over well with any regional victors not Miss. State.

A new meaness has returned to Dudy Noble, & I'm liking it.

is one of the reasons that DNF is such a great place to play. Have you ever read that story about John Grisham's experience at DNF? It's only showing hospitality and it it's a good gesture in my book. I don't see any reason that Cohen would get mad. Hell, he played here for four years. He knows the drill.

...who would kick your *** if you got in his way & would go to any length to win.

Hence his nickname *&^*%$#.

I questioned his decency as a human. Edit: I see you were responding to coach33. I don't see where he was questioning anyone's knowledge either.

that we shouldn't feed a team that just beat us in a Regional. And I will have to disagree as well. Some of the guys doing the cooking make it known to the opposing team before the game starts that they'll have some grub for the team after the game. It's called good sportsmanship, and although I don't always practice it, it's one of the things that makes Dudy Noble so unique.

To each his own though, I guess.

You missed the whole point of his post.

Think LSU would feed an opposing team after that team went into Baton Rouge and knocked them out of a regional?

NO!

This team just ended your season. You should be livid as hell at your team for losing. You should not be having hugs and kisses with the team that just ended your teams season!

If it was true baseball knowledge I would not have commented on it. Just showing visiting teams that we are hospitable people. That is all

At least you don't take college sports to serious.

make them wait an hour in line for a hot dog in the DWS club level. That'll show 'em for beating us.

Gibson would throw at dudes in the on deck circle for trying to time up Gibson's pitches with practice swings.

There was a saying that he would throw at his Grandmother, and supposedly Gibson said he would if she was crowding the plate.

Tim McCarver was the Cardinals catcher and he went out to talk to Gibson about something, and Gibson apparently didn't want to talk them and supposedly told Tim McCarver that the only thing he knew about pitching was that he couldn't hit it. McCarver then went back behind the plate.

I enjoy the new attitude Cohen has instilled in the program as much as anyone, but I don't see a big deal in giving the opposing guys some grub after the game. A lot of kids have never played in front of crowds like we pull for a regional, and I don't see any harm in letting them enjoy the atmosphere. I personally wouldn't be giving out food, but if somone wants to then more power to them.

than winning a baseball game or any other game. Anyone who does not have that in perspective...including Coach Cohen....hasn't lived long enough yet. Hopefully, they will live long enough to figure it out for themselves.

LSU baseball fans are alot different breed than their football brethren.

I have been at a tailgate with Southern U. players and another time with Rice players. The time with Rice was after they'd sent LSU packing as the third placed team in what must have been the last of the six team regionals back in the 90's. Fullerton one it and either had Kotsay or Nevin as their stud. Wow. Six team regionals hosted in spots with big time programs as hosting number twos were slug-fests. I also recall Jacque Jones hitting three bombs at Alex Box in a losing effort during a championship game.

The point of all of this is that I'm awesome. That's right bitches. I've partied with Jose Cruz Jr.

The good thing about college baseball in the SEC is that by and large the fans that go to the games are people that actually attended school there. You don't have nearly as many walk-on fans, who I believe tend to be the fans that cause most of the trouble at the football games across the conference.

That's one of the things I like about college baseball.

"'Don't dig in against Bob Gibson; he'll knock you down. He'd knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don't stare at him, don't smile at him, don't talk to him. He doesn't like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don't run too slow, don't run too fast.

"'If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don't charge the mound, because he's a Gold Glove boxer.' I'm like, 'Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?' That was the night it ended."

Gibson was also a notoriously fast worker. When he and Don Drysdale (another fastworking power pitcher) squared off, the game would last about one hour.

Finally, Gibson was an accomplished hitter. It wasn't uncommon for Gibson to pinch-hit. He had 24 career homeruns.

...100 years from now, we'll all be dead, and when we face our Maker I seriously doubt that He'll care whether we won a sub-regional or Superregional at DNF or not. Play hard, be hardnosed, but at the end of the game remember we're all human beings.

At least with Cohen, if some opposing player loves DNF and he has talent, John might just get him to transfer.
