Say Chris Peterson, I think Dan is here another 3-4 years. If he is offered UF, bye-bye.

and I do not blame him. He has to do what is best for his family and career. Florida is one of the premiere jobs in the country and a place he is more than familiar with. IF they offer it will be hard for him not to accept. First the job must be offerred and then he has to decide. We do not know how happy he is in Starkville vs Gainesville. One thing for sure is we must get off our tails and pocketbook and make it very difficult for him to leave for money. We have no control over the communities but we do have control over what we pay. It is time for S Strickland to take action. Could it be that Coach Mullen or his agent knew of the pending retirement?

I would say that means he's committed to MState. When you consider the school, location, facilities, talent within the state, and the conference,I think Florida is one of the top 5 coaching gigs in the country and a dream opportunity for just about any head coach, especially any up and coming head coach. If we manage to keep Dan through this offseason, I think it'll be a good sign that he's gonna be around a long time - not an MSU lifer but longer than anyone probably would have originally thought.</p>

I know money talks and I know visibility is everything. Florida has all of that, but at the same time, I do not think Mullen is ready to leave us yet. Florida has so much money and prestige, I think Mullen is probably not at the top of Florida's list (at least not on their short list). I personally think he is committed to us for the time being, plus he is still a young coach, and they can ask Tennessee what happens when you hire young coaches... Just sayin'.... <div>
</div><div>EDITED TO SAY in NO WAY am I comparing Mullen to Kiffin (nowhere in the same ballpark). My point being they will probably hire someone with a little more HC experience. </div>

Mullen's ties to the University of Florida just resigned and play in Denver. When Florida hired Urban Meyer, he had just gone undefeated and taken Utah to the Fiesta Bowl. I just don't think that an 8-4 season at MSU is enough to convince Florida that he is absolutely the man for the job. I do think he'll be on the list to check out, though.

just wants to jump into the big limelight following in the shadow of the likes of Spurrier and Meyer.

IF HE DOESN'T PLAN ON LEAVING....he has to realize that this is killing the fan base and probably hurts some recruiting as well .... is he satisfied with the current class of signees or does he tell them something that he won't tell us ... I know he said he is happy here, but how long did it take him to say that ??
