If Flood takes a head coaching job next year does Rutgers still have to pay him?

Do you honestly think Flood has a chance of getting another coaching job?
Yes, with Fridge recommending him and his over all body of work I think he can. I have come to conclusion that it is Rutgers and not the coaches. Since going big time, how can Anderson, Graber, Shea, Schiano, and Flood all have failed? Graber and Schiano got close but they didn't get over the hump.
Not sure Middlesex HS is paying that much.
Not exactly. The amount we owe him is just offset or reduced by the amount he earns from any new job, regardless of whether it's coaching.

That;s correct. Only difference is that this buyout is structured as biweekly payments for the next 3 years, instead of one big payment.
The university didn't make it clear how the buyout works. Julie has multiple years to be paid off. She is gong to be paying the tax man quite a bit if she gets a lump sum.

No, it's in his contract that if he gets a head coaching job or becomes the Secretary General of the UN, we are off the hook.
Flood will never be head coach every again. Haven't you been watching the last few years ? He is a nice man, but coaching football is not something he should pursue any further
What if you're in the FCS and you could hire a guy that went to three bowl games and only had one losing season? There are certainly coaches with worse resumes that have gotten back on the carousel.
His extension amends the original contract to state:
In the case of termination of Mr. Flood by the University without cause,
Rutgers shall pay Mr. Flood $1,400,000 and no other amount or item.
The amount to be paid shall be paid minus all applicable and
appropriate payroll deductions on a bi-weekly basis in equal
installments in accordance with regular University payroll procedures,
from the date of termination through February 28, 2019
The original contract states this payment is offset by ANY OTHER EMPLOYMENT.

No. If he takes a job at Walmart as a greeter, his payout is reduced by minimum wage. The original contract also says he has to "actively seek employment" during the payment period. Barchi could call him in every other week like unemployment does & ask him to verify he's seeking employment before he cuts the check.
