THIS. Every bear that I have talked to are terrified of him becoming our head coach.

Yep. The better connected they are -- the more they fear it too. Hud's connections cast a very wide net -- and turns a bunch of enemies into friends...

Simple solution. If Mullen stays, he needs to hire Head Coach at East Miss. Community College as Offensive Coordinator and sign EMCC QB.

If Mullen is let go, and Hud is hired...Hud needs to hire EMCC Head Coach as O- Coordinator and sign EMCC QB.

Problems solved.

That is all.

How so?
ULL historical win percentage - .487
MSU historical win percentage - .485

If it was so easy to win in Lafayette, why is Mark Hudspeth the first person that's ever been able to do it?

I see where the article says that Hud's ties to MSU could be a problem. I didn't see any indication that Hud walked away from the table because of a non-compete provision. That could very well be the case, since Hud only "alluded" to his MSU ties being a problem without specifically mentioning the details. I just didn't see that in the article. It could have been mentioned in the comments, but I'm not able to see them.

I would be shocked if MSU and Ole Miss both include non-compete provisions in contracts - at least when it comes to each other. It may be too much to ask when it comes to the enitire SEC, but it makes sense to have that sort of language when it comes to rival schools.

This is where you use the ability to read between the lines or otherwise trust what you hear from people that got it from Hudspeth family members still living in Louisville.

The article simply shows that he was interviewed and turned them down. I filled in the blanks for you.

He would have been the first non-compete in the rivalry's history to my knowledge. Archie was terrified that they would hire him -- and he would leave them for MSU -- forever changing their perception of superiority over us in the process. That was a huge hang up on the process.

Otherwise, we both feel like we "will never lose a coach to the other". FWIW, if we were trying to hire Freeze out of Arkansas St, I would have expected us to take the same steps to protect ourselves after he'd been vocal about wanting to get back to OM...

next year's schedule sets up well for a successful first season for a new HC

This X 1000

if Dan doesn't beat UK, ARK and UM and at least be competitive vs USCar, aTm, UA then we should move on quickly and give Hud/whomever alot of opportunity to build some momentum with an experienced team and next year's schedule. otherwise, Dan will succeed enough next year to stick around and fart about for another year or two into mediocrity.

Hudspeth is getting prime time on ESPN affiliates second week in a row tonight...only game in town...somebody's looking. I'm still waiting for proof that he's sitting on the edge of his seat waiting for the Mississippi State job. All the stars would have to align perfectly for that to happen. Mullen is going to get another year and at the end of this year Hudspeth may get an offer that he can't refuse. If he does he ain't coming to State.

Watching tonight's pregame show. Hud leads his conference in rushing, they noted how amazing his offense line is, and they've said he's beaten every team in his conference except ASU. I'd like to know how ULL's running game and offense line were before he showed up.

You imagine if we got a guy who was committed to using the running game wisely at MSU? Bring on the Croom jokes, but I'm talking EFFECTIVELY.

No one has ever won at ULL. They have never won more than 6 games two years in a row. They have very few 6 and 5 seasons two years in a row.

Hud has won 9 two years in a row and appears to be on track for 9 or more this year.
