If I am alone in this thought, this will be my last rant on the issue.

The PA announcer is a no talent *** clown. On the long run by Love he called it a reverse when it was a jet sweep. We ran a play off the left side and he said off right guard. At halftime the guy was kicking from the 50 yd line and he called a 50 yd FG not 60. I can go on but will stop. How can you call the game when you don't even know the game? THis doesn't even get into him not using the mic to build a homefield advantage and to work the crowd. We should expect more and especially for a D1 university. I wonder who is daddy is or what service he is giving who on a daily basis to keep his job. I hate going to games solely cause I know I will have to listen to him. /rant

Not many Hank Flicks and Jack Cristalls left in the broadcasting world. I'm starting to realize how good those guys were.

Then there was Jim Ellis calling Shump "Ashton Sheppard", no matter how many times Matt Wyatt would follow up with the correct pronunciation.

And I swear he was calling Dak "Zak Prescott" in the postgame.

Before Flick left ...

at least 9 out of 10 people, or at least posters on the boards, wanted him gone. Now that he's gone, he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Which is it?

I like the new guy just fine.

New guy doesn't bother me, but I loved Flick. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

I agree. Miss Flick...never understood the digs on him...

kinda like sh!tcanning Jack Cristil, if you ask me. I say ask Flick back, if he'll have us. Bball atmosphere is especially significantly worse without him.

Flick was an acquired taste. But I liked him.

He was part of the MSU game experience.

I wish he was still doing games.

I want my PA guy to get the facts correct and give pertinent info. Flick did that. New guy not so much.

don't want him back, let's move on.
I guess I wasn't around when he was still announcing, but when I came to State and did what every nerdy 18 year old does and put Mississippi State University under education on my Facebook he added me within a week and every year he posts "Happy Birthday" on my wall. I didn't meet him until this past summer when I was finishing up to graduate in August and even though I didn't have his class he would see me sitting in the hall and approach me and 1) tell me good morning 2) ask me how my day was going 3) and say something funny before walking off and repeating with someone else he didn't know and had never met.

I don't know how horrible his analyzing was, but Flick has more personality in his fingertip than any person at MSU or anyone MSU could hire to be the announcer. Basketball games even when we were decent were never really fun my 4 years (minus UK 2010) and my townee friends regularly told me how much more fun it was when Flick was there (among several other changes). ****, I bet the guy would do it for free... that guy LOVES Mississippi State.

Disagree with you very much

Hank Flick by all accounts is a nice guy and a good teacher. However, he was an embarrassment to Mississippi State University as a PA announcer, particularly in football. I cannot count the number of people over the years who asked me who that PA announcer MSU had with the shrill, nasal voice. His replacement is light years better. I will not express my opinion about the level of sophistication of those who think Flick was better.

Hell half the time I don't realize we have an announcer. I hear him every now and then over the bells and in between plays. But it doesn't seem like anything is missing either. Maybe I just have him tuned out

Just to be clear, I am not saying bring Flick back. Never have. Flick was perfect for basketball. That was his love and where he was at his best. Football I could handle Flick. My main beef is if you fire someone it should be an upgrade/improvement. This guy is not. He can't even get the info/call right. My thing is he needs to be canned and actually work out some people to find someone who is good. This guy was hired in a sham by Strick and it shows. Major fail by the AD.

I'm pretty sure he called Milton

McCaleb a few times. It confused the hell out of me. They have the same # on the roster.'

Either that or I had too much to drink and confused myself.

Hearing him say "JJ Johnson" is one of my earliest Mississippi State memories, so I'm biased in favor of him.

Can we get the hype man from Alcorn's band?

It would be highly entertaining to listen to that guy call our game

Maybe it's where my seats are (section 207) but I honestly can't remember even hearing the guy all day. But then again, I didn't hear the Alcorn band guy either and everybody bitched about him when we got back to tent so maybe I just have a tune out function in my brain that I never knew about.

Not just you, I saw some Tweets from people that said they couldn't hear the p.a. system at all. I think it was gameday ops they were conversing with and gameday was asking their section#

Hank Flick is a MSU legend

Like Jack Cristil, he will always be a part of MSU sports to me. When I was a little kid. I would get into the stadium ridiculously early. I will always remember his words when he began his day atScott Field.....

"A good afternoon to you, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the campus of Mississippi State University." Something close to that In his distinct voice.
