I'd put together a package with Jameon Lewis (or a player with like abilities) lined up as punter. I'd use it when I'm forced to punt around midfield just to make the other team wonder what the hell is going on.

Surely we have an athlete of his type who grew up playing soccer at some level. Jameon would be a true run/pass/punt threat. If it's open just take off running. If a receiver is open then throw it. If you have to punt and it only goes 35 yards, so what? Still better than a touchback.

Crazy maybe but I'd use it against a cupcake just to make other coaches think.

Do you think there'd be enough time to wait for a receiver to get open, and then kick it, if not?

We used to call it as an audible once we saw the defense. Two plays called in huddle, then a signal is called to tell everyone which play to run. Run/pass or punt.

Memphis used to do this about 10 years ago, I think. They would put their QB slightly deeper than shotgun and run a play. Most of the time he ended up kicking it about 30 yards plus roll. The defense never had a man back deep.

i dont know why teams dont utilize the music city miracle throwback play more often. most times, the outside man/gunners would be collapsing and containing. i think it could be exploited beautifully. it would also send a message that the field needs to be stretched an both backs need to be covered which would open up and making returning easier in the future. the threat would always be in the back of ones mind. assuming its not an awful throw, i think it could be a kick *** wrinkle that would keep cover teams guessing.

You guys must have short memories. Matt Wyatt use to do this for us and pooch it.

I remember seeing Matt do that and it worked well when he kicked it short. No offense to Matt or Colt McCoy, but I would use a better "athlete". A kid who is faster, more elusive, a real threat to take it to the house.

Most of these guys played some QB in high school so they've handled snaps before and can throw it reasonably well. If you put an elusive guy back there, against most punt coverage D's he really only needs to make one guy miss and he'll have 20 yards of open space in front of him. Would be a fun wrinkle in my opinion.
