the game will demolish the field for weeks to come. And it may still be pretty soft since it was totally rebuilt.

I don't think we had a single rainy game for the past two years, or at least not much more than very light drizzle.

I'm sure they watered it. You know, SINCE THEY PLANTED GRASS ON IT.

It's not going to rain 10 inches, or even 5

I know that the field will be fairly soaked, but it will not compare to the 5 or so inches that fell overnight prior to the 2009 LSU game. The field seemed to handle that deluge just fine. The junction on the other hand...

But 10 inches at one time? Doubtful.

They aren't playing on some scrub high school field. They have a very good drainage system built to handle such situations, not to mention the amount of sand in the dirt.

There is actually a fairly small chance that we get much rain at all from the hurricane anyway. Current projections are showing it going pretty far west. Even if it hit us head on and rained for 2-3 days it would be moved out by Friday. Given Friday and all day Saturday, you can bet that the field would be almost completely dry.

We spent several million dollars on a state of the art new drainage system and sand base layer for the field. It's condition will be absolutely fine by gametime on Saturday. Won't even be muddy.

Remember the Arkansas game, I think in 2000

We lost because our kicker missed a last second field goal from extra point range. That's the day we had snow, sleet, and rain during the game. The field was a quagmire late in the game. That's probably why the FG was missed. And we supposedly had good drainage then. And then there was the Troy State game (tornado warning game) ....
