If only there was some way I could make the sixpack root for my Celtics tonight

Ha, thatll get a lot of America to root for the Celtics. It might even get @85Bears and his grumpy group to watch the NBA for the first time in decades.

If there’s a game for the “I don’t watch the NBA anymore” crowd then game 7 of the Thunder/Nuggets series is one to watch. They can jack off to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his midrange game and the second coming of Larry Bird in Jokic.

SGA's incessant flopping is getting way out of hand. Any PG in the league would score like that if they were allowed to get into the paint and draw whistles on flops like he does.

The jokic talk is legit but yes, we've heard it way too much. He's an MVP player but he's no Larry Bird.

He’s the closest thing to Bird.

He's getting there. I don't think he has Bird's shooting touch but I do think he's a more effective big than Bird would have been if he had to play down there. But I guess that's the point - it's not an apples to apples comparison because they play different positions in different eras sylistically. But I can get on board with your opinion that he's the closest thing to Bird today.

I think the shooting is getting there. I like to compare the two with their passing abilities. Both are/were absolute magicians passing the ball as big men.

That game last night between the Nuggets and Thunder was great. I will say that playoff basketball is a lot more entertaining than the regular season. And yes I will root for Larry Bird and the Celtics.

I'd like to announce that She Mate Me has entered the NBA rooting interest portal. My talents will be available to the highest bidder and I will Google the roster of the favored team of the winning bidder so I actually know the name of at least one starter.

Bourbon is my favored form of remuneration...

I only watched a few, and while they all should have b een called on Jordan, they were mostly small shuffle steps that could be missed or either occurred in close proximity to him either gathering the ball or putting the ball on the floor. Jordan may have gotten some star treatment also.

But now in clips it looks like casual traveling is basically ignored kind of like a backwards "advantage rule" from soccer; if it didn't really help them beat a person, it's just optional to dribble. And then even when a player is gaining an advantage, they define a "gather step" as basically any steps taken when the players is plausibly thinking about picking up his dribble. Or maybe it's any steps taken from the the last dribble to the point that the player clearly has two hands on teh ball or has been supporting its wait for more than 2 seconds.

They call traveling ALOT more now. There’s still bullshít that sometimes they get away with but they have cut way down on it.

I swear that group wont be happy unless George Mikan rises from his grave and takes the court.

I think that a lot of the complaints now are based on all the side and back stepping after picking up and collecting the ball.
Basically, it was just assumed you would collect and take your accepted steps towards the basket. But since that isnt specifically required, the side or back step is also accepted. That move looks odd and reeks of travel even if it complies with the rules, so many view it as travel.

Also, I think that the very generous interpretation of when a ball is 'collected'(at which point steps are counted) plays a part in why many complain about how bad players travel now.

They call that a travel on Jaren Jackson Jr and Ja Morant at least one a game.

Yeah, perception probably doesnt match reality in this instance.
They think nobody is called because the side-step and back jumps are allowed, but in reality travel is being called.

He wins everybody. We are all dumb for liking the NBA. His argument is just too strong. I will start watching other sports where the refs never miss things. As a Saints fan I am glad they are in a sport where the refs have never decided the course of a conference championship game in which they played
There is a difference in the refs calls, the NBA does it by design. They favor any star and they do not call walks or carry’s or push offs or any star player’s fouls. I quit a long time ago over the favoritism. I try to watch it at times but it’s worse now than ever before.

and yes, I even tried being a ref some and I stunk at it but it’s not my profession. It’s no just the missed calls, it’s that they do it by design.

Yeah it’s because they’re letting it be physical this year. These playoffs looks totally different than regular season in how they’re calling it making it for great Basketball. Soft teams that have been reliant on the 3 all year are getting exposed. Cavs, Celts

That proved to be a big mistake asking a bunch of fans who regularly root for a loser to root for your team.
