If Penn St. really is "bigger than any one individual" then Joe Pa's *** will not coach another game. Smart move on his part to try and get ahead of the trustees by saying "they shouldn't even be discussing me, I'm retiring at the end of the season." I don't give a damn what he's done for the school, he doesnt deserve to continue in any capicity. It will be a slap in the face of the victim's and their families if Paterno is coaching Saturday.

doesn't necessarily mean the Board won't fire him first. This is his attempt to go out on his terms and to head off being fired, figuring they'll just say "well, he'll be gone in a month anyway."If I were on that Board, my vote would be to fire him.

And if he somehow coaches the game this weekend, I think it will pretty clear that his mere presence is going to cause problems - even in Happy Valley.

Their next road game is against OSU. If he shows up and is on the sidelines, it's going to get dirty. Regardless of what sort of rotten behavior might be on display if Paterno is there, I would place all blame on PSU for being antagonists.

Obviously it takes time to get all the facts and vote and whatever else a public body has to do before a firing in such a high profile case, but surely any other state employee would at a minimum be suspended until a final decision was made. If he's allowed to dictate his own terms then the board is no better than he is.

of Penn State so they don't go to a New Years Day Bowl. Wouldn't that be some **** to be in the Rose Bowl.....and see Joe carried off the field after covering for his friend all these years. Damn, I wonder how many more kids were taken advantage of because those sorry bastards didn't do something....

If I were a Penn State player, I would refuse to take that field so long as Paterno is coaching the team. It's easy to say that as I have no skin in this game, but the only way the program can save any face at this point is if the players give a big 17 you to the leadership at the school. They'd have to bring in people from outside this situation to finish up the season.
