Yes. They "hired" the new AD on Friday..tells me Flood was gone win or lose.
If I could love this post I would because it speaks the truth of the gospel and yes, Flood still would have been fired.

Yep ... clear that Barchi definitely placed premium priority on fixing this - and the "expedite this NOW" attitude increases the possibility that a new HC is far, far closer to being selected.
Figure that the back channel 'feelers' have been put out some time ago & the 'short list' of guys interested in seriously talking is already set.... and one is chewing through the details of some already held "substantive discussions".
Would be interesting to know the Barchi / Brown marching orders - if they are emphatic about "no 'usual suspects' no 'same old same old' and make a fresh start" it sort of shuffles the deck & make it hard to predict... heck - nobody would have predicted this AD choice - and most definitely not as the permanent choice.
I think that he has reached out to coaches weeks ago. Just as with the AD, bang - bang, gone and hired. He know what had to be done and was working on it for a few weeks. It was just a matter of timing. New AD on Sunday, coach knows who he is working with. I think he reached out to GS weeks ago. To big of a S$$t storm to ignore. When this crap hit the fan, ESPN asked him about it and coaching. He said something that I do not commit on coaches that are still employed. That told me something was up.
Some of our players must have known that Flood was fired if their friends on other teams told them Rutgers contacted their school. Maybe that is why they weren't playing with a lot of energy against Nebraska.
Does beating two of of the worst teams (Army & Maryland) on the schedule matter, when you are getting blown the heck out by the big boys. Nooooooooopppppeeeee!!!!!!
He did not coach game day but he was involved in all preparations for the game and was at practice. Head coaches barely coach on game day even when they are there.
I am sure Flood was a fired man walking Saturday. It is interesting that I believe on Friday Barchi set up the Sunday meeting with JH, but no set meeting with HCKF. In my heart of hearts I want to think that those boos Barchi heard Saturday were the icing on the cake for his decision. AND, one more time for the record--the boos were NOT for Laviano but for ALL the stubborn coaching decisions throughout the year synthesized in one action
oh stop with this reframe. He did not coach on game day. He was suspended. He did wrong(s)... massive wrongs. He embarrassed our school. He set our program backwards. He he deserves nothing but disdain in my book. We had trouble on and off the field. He was a stubborn man that could not make changes and adjustments. In all his years here, I think I can count on 1 hand the time we came out of half-time making adjustments for the opponent. We showed up unprepared. We stuck with QB's that had their souls crushed on the field. We were penalized so heavily that we had a game this season that was pushing 130 yards... and this is the man, the "coach" you defend? Please. Goodbye, Good-luck, Good riddance.
I was not defending him. I was responding to the OP question about if we had won at Maryland would flood still be here. I said that if we had beaten Washington and MSU he would still be here. I then responded to someone saying he did not coach the MSU game and I said he coached leading up to the game.
I said nothing about him having or having not been fired.
I think the product that was on the field showed a lack of desire and intensity which goes to the head coach. I have stated before in posts that his lack of emotion lead to a team that showed a lack of emotion.

Yeah.
Speaking as someone who thought he survives, no matter what happened on the field this season (and who predicted a 4-8 outcome from the start), I believe his fate was sealed back in September.
The suspension was a smokescreen. From the administration's perspective, the outcome of the season is relatively meaningless, fan "outrage" notwithstanding. Issues of compliance and discipline have much more far reaching impact than the annual revenues from ticket sales, parking, sponsorship, and residual philanthropy related to football success.
The silence from the administration on Flood's circumstances "until the season is over" services both hypotheses, but I think Barchi was sure he was going down this path from the time the news broke on Flood's transgressions and his players', barring a miraculous season in the Big Ten.
My guess is that almost *nothing* on the gridiron could have saved KF. Having a number of players arrested, combined with emailgate, would have been enough for Barchi. And we still don't know what the lawyers found, but if there were drugs, (which I hope there was not) then KF could have taken us to the national championship game and *still* been fired.
