over the next 20 years, your team will go to half of the football state championships, how would you feel? That is what Shelby has done since '97. This year's state championship makes #10 in 20 years. That is truly remarkable! On the high school level, that is like the same team going to the Super Bowl 10 of the last 20 years. We really are fortunate to have been a part of and remain a part of such an incredible program. Can't wait to see what the next 20 years bring!

Truly great...We ain't half bad ourselves.......7 out of 20....Hope Shelby and Reidsville fans appreciate how truly unusual that is....Most schools never get there at all....Good luck to the Golden Lions on Sat.....but I don't think you'll need my good wishes to win it...lol....................

We are lucky to see the football we do. Saw a stat in the Star that said since 1986 25 teams in 31 seasons have played for a state title from Cleveland County. 13 more times in the semi finals.

What conference has won 30 state championships in football since 1972. That is the year the east and west started playing each other for the SC. The Smoky Mountain
conference. Some years they had the 1A and 2A SC. Robbinsville is the leader with 11 Ships.
