Thanks man great job! Is going to be a lot of fun in the west. Some great teams and so many traditionally great programs

U have to list conference winners first. Starmount wouldn't be 6 seed and mh wouldn't be 7th. Tja and Mic would be 6 and 7 seeds. Then list rest by rpi

they are in split conferences, and only 1 conference champ is declared regardless of class.

Good job that takes time but I do have one disagreement while some disagree with me on this I don't read anywhere in the playoff rules that in a split 1A/2A conference that there will be two conference champions one from each classification but just the one who wins the whole conference and they will be seated with the other conference champions in their playoffs for the classification they play in. So if I'm correct then Eastern Randolph who probably lost their conference championship Friday to Cummings wouldn't be #1 because the conference champions are all seated first if it was today there would be only 3 which would make Mt Airy #1 Mitchell #2 and Swain #3 then you start seeding everyone else by their RPI which would make ER #4.
North Moore got beat by cummins. They are in the east. Eastern Randolph is undefeated still.

Anyone have the definitive rules on the split conferences? I always thought the top finisher in the 1A part would receive a No. 1 seed. Has that changed?

From what the rulebook reads this year, there will only be 1 conference champ. For another classification get an auto berth, they have to finish top 3 and .500 in conference play, then they will be seeded by rpi. Of course that's redundant in 1a, because all but 2 teams in the west will make the playoffs.

Each conference will be allotted playoff berths based on the number of schools fielding a team in a particular sport
1-5 Teams = 1 Berth (Conference Champion)
6+ Teams = 2 Berths (Conference Champion + 2nd Place or Conference Tournament Champion)
The highest finishing team from a given classification in a split conference will automatically qualify, regardless of overall conference finish (minimum of 2 schools per classification)
Addition of RPI rating to Handbook for conference tie-breaking procedure as the final tiebreaker

Seeding
Conference champions will be seeded before any other qualifying teams by RPI rating
All other teams will be seeded after the conference champions by RPI rating of the school, regardless of conference finish
Each region (East/West) will be seeded independently of one another, utilizing the RPI rating of the school

I think you may even see more teams get first round byes regardless of the East ot West brackets. If COVID doesn't knock teams out of the playoffs, some teams may opt out. I mean, who wants to drive over 100 miles one-way to get waxed 100-0? Also, a team with zero wins should not be in the playoffs to begin with!

16 teams in each bracket (East and West) makes more sense, but I could see 24 or 28 teams in each bracket happening.

This 64 team crap is insane for 1A. If you want to expand playoffs fine. Do 48 and give the top 8 on each side a bye.
Some sports have the majority of the 107 1A schools playing and a 64 team bracket is fine but I believe football should have been put in the same category as wrestling and had a 32 team bracket. Right now in the East there are only two teams in #11 -20 one that's .500 and one .600 all the rest are below .500 I believe it shows that 16 teams from each east and west is plenty.

If you are the winner of your classification in a split conference and are in the top 3 and/or have a .500 record you will be seeded as a #1.

Here is the link (go to page 72): https://www.nchsaa.org/sites/default/files/NCHSAA Handbook 2021-2022 WEB 10062021.pdf

I've also copied that part here.
NOTE: The highest finishing team in its half of a split conference must finish in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place overall and/or have an overall winning percentage of .500 or higher in order to be seeded as a #1. Otherwise, the team will be seeded with all other at-large teams. (2) Seed all 2nd place automatic berths or conference tournament champions and at-large berths by RPI rating (or other NCHSAA selected ranking system).

Mitchell didn't mean to hit a nerve....I just was pretty confident...u said I was wrong...so I was just sayin told ya so. Appreciate the info u posted...didn't know how rpi was calculated and how many teams from conferences qualify etc...goodluck to Mitchell unless they play the braves. Wish u were right because that would mean braves would be at least 4 seed if they win smc. Now they could be 5 or lower behind Thomasville etc...

Ive read this but to me you have to put it all together this from the handbook covers all sports it more generalized like football doesn't have tournament champions or at large births the quote I gave above came from the NCHSAA RPI rankings page specifically for football 2021-2022 NCHSAA Team Sports Contest Limitations, Playoff, and Seeding Format right above the rankings.
But with both together I still don't see a scenario were you get seeded with conference champions unless you win the whole conference.

That was my interpretation also, but who the hell knows.
