If the rumors are true, how will Fox fare without O'Reilly?

It seems O'Reilly may be on his way out. I wonder how much this will hurt Fox's ratings. Also I wonder what O'Reilly will do next. He is a huge name but OTOH maybe he doesn't want to do a day to day grind anymore and will do something where doesn't have to work every day.

Great question. My initial guess is that they move Carlson into O'Reilly's slot. But then who replaces Carlson? O'Reilly's and Carlson's ratings are huge and I don't see any replacement in Carlson's time slot that will come close to his ratings.

My guess is either Eric Bolling or Dana Perino. Or go outside and get Laura Ingraham. That might be a home run.

With Ailes, Kelly and now O'Reilly likely heading out, things are definitely changing there. I don't think that O'Reilly is calling the shots on this decision but he'll get a nice golden parachute as a parting gift assuming that they cut him loose. Conservative groups would probably pay him well on the lecture circuit. Due to the reasons that he's probably done at Fox, he's probably done with network tv. He's getting on in years anyways but he made his own bed with this one.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Neil Cavuto move from business to news. He's pretty good. He's already in the 8 time slot.

Bowles goes to Cavuto's slot.

Laura is probably going to run against Kaine for senate in Va.

Cavuto and Carlson both seem too non-inflammatory to be made the star of the network. It makes better TV to have someone that makes people yell at the screen (in love or in hate). Cavuto and Carlson are too reasonable.

I read that and completely forgot about that possibility. But if she decides against that run, she would be a terrific choice to replace O'Reilly and still keep very good ratings. All the other inside Fox choices would hurt ratings pretty dramatically, imo.

Carlson's ratings are off the charts, much better than Megyn Kelly's. Agree that Cavuto is not a good choice. His personality is too mild.

I didn't know that about Carlson but I'm glad to hear it because I actually like him a good bit.

Did you see his show last evening? He had Chris Stirewalt on who lauded West Virginia (Chris is from the Northern Panhandle). Chris compared living in West Virginia and the quality of our citizens to other countries and Carlson said he would gladly live in WV vs. those other countries like Japan, France, etc.

Seriously though, who watches Fox live these days anyway? I do like to watch Tucker take down loons on YouTube every once in a while though.

I didn't see it. I don't have cable. But now and then I'll surf Youtube for segments of shows from CNN, MSNBC and Fox to keep up with what's happening and Carlson is usually pretty sharp.

If you get a chance watch that segment. It will make you proud.

Megyn Kelly was hot. Tucker is a bit of a dweeb, but I do like his show. He dismantles liberals and their half witted arguments nightly. It's good entertainment. Of the 4 (Matha, O'Reilly, Tucker, and Hannity) he is the only one I actually make a point to try and watch.

Fox News says Tucker Carlson will take over Bill O'Reilly's prime time slot following his departure.

If FNN can find ratings from used-up old news like Tucker Carlson, it's pretty apparent dave and PATX and Airport and the rest of the world's cement heads are positively dying to watch anything they trot out from 8PM-Midnight.

Fox screwed up by moving the 5. That was the only involved show that I watched. My preference would have been to insert Judge into Bill O's slot. Either judge would be fine, but I prefer Judge Napilationo(sp). He is entertaining, smart and could definitely continue the show as is or change to his preference. Judge Jeanine can get a little irritating at times.

Moving Eric Boling to 8 to replace Bill would be very weak. Good looking fellow for ladies, but I am not sure he is conversant enough to hold the show together. Inserting him into 5 0clock gives a run of 4 white men over 4 continuous TV hours. The 5 did provide a break at 5 oclock with a team of 3 men and two women for variety. Also any of the 5 personalities could pinch-hit for any show in the evening. Inserting the 5 at 9 may be different, will have to wait and see, but it does remove all of them from filling in spots, IMO.

Are these little nips at Fox intended to break up the conservative network and insert more liberal programs for the Network? Murddock doesn't do just a hell of a lot without a grand plan. Got this feeling after he made a move during election season. Some attractive personalities have been removed recently.

It's probably s good idea that you do not watch the shows, because it takes a certain level of intelligence to even comprehend the conversations. And I'm quite certain you don't meet even minimal intelligence standards.

I agree that moving The Five to that timeslot is a bad idea. I think they should have tried to persuade other Laura Ingram or Mark Levin to join Fox. Both incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable and very very outgoing personalities.

Bill O'Reilly will receive a maximum of one year's salary following his ouster from Fox News, a source familiar with the situation said on Thursday.

The source declined to comment on O'Reilly's annual salary, but CNN reported on Thursday that the host's new contract provided about $25 million a year.
