If there is one thing I will say about Davis Wade...

we are one of the few stadiums in the SEC where there are actually academic buildings surrounding the stadium. Most stadiums that I have been to in the SEC or either on the outskirts of campus or are surrounded by other athletic buildings. Davis Wade has academic buildings and dorms all around it.

My first guess is being the 2nd oldest stadium in the country led to the campus being built around the stadium instead of the opposite. We got into the athletic building business late in the game too, Shira was probably the first built if you don't count McArthur and it was what mid 70's or so?

I love how there are dorms in LSU's stadium though. I realize they aren't use for dorms anymore, but I always thought it was cool that back in the day some unfortunate kids had to live in a football stadium.

I love the open south end zone. Mostly because it gives you that connection between the campus and stadium, even on non-game days. I know it won't last forever, but the uniqueness is cool.

Pretty good story behind those. Something about how Huey P. couldn't get the money approved to build more seats in tiger stadium but he could get some funds approved for dorms on campus. So he gets the funds for dorms and builds them right up against the football field with a stair-stepped exterior on one side that people could sit on. I know a guy who lived in them back in the 70's.

True.

Probably one of the only stadiums in the league you walk past on the way to class.

We're is BDS if it ain't on campus?

If BDS was in the middle of campus no one would ever be able to find it
The Quad bama's version of the drill field is only one block away, now granted the west side of their stadium are off campus condos and a cemetery is across the street to the south.
Also Jordan-Hare is surrounded by dorms and class rooms. Remember the chemistry bldg. fire when LSU was at Aubrun.

i would concede a lot to not have to look at Dorman though

Dorman is long overdue for demolition. I remember some crazy kid tried to burn it down after a rock concert at the amphitheater. That's as close as we ever got to getting rid of that eye sore.

Walk past it everyday to class. It's pretty cool I get to look at stadium progress, but I also have to walk by dorman too :/
