He was my 8th grade teacher at Clinton Jr. High. I had no idea he was on that particular team, but I knew he was a standout at State... He was a golfing buddy of my Uncle, as well.
The 62 team might have as well. It's pretty clear from reading Veazey's book (which is a must for any MSU fan) that the 63 team was the worst of the SEC title teams from that era. As it was, they still played the eventual national champions by far the closest game they had in the tournament until the title game.
I was in school then. Really an incredible run in basketball. 1962 team was the best I ever saw (wasn't there in the bailey Howell and Jim ashmore eras).
