If we don't win 6 games this year, who loses their job?

Knowing what he has had to work with, I feel somewhat bad for Hevesy, but all signs seem to point towards him. I just read where every starter on the O-line graded below 80 for the second time in three weeks. I can understand a missed assignment here and there or a particular player having a rough day, but at some point, that has to fall back on the coach when no one is getting their job done.

Even though it's just one game, I feel like there's a huge difference between 5-7 and 6-6 this year. 6-6 and a bowl game means that probably no less than 75% of the fanbase remains satisfied. 5-7, on the other hand, means that there's a problem and a lot of people are going to be wanting answers. The team's had some problems all over the field this year, but the most glaring one has clearly been the line. Hell ,we have seniors missing assignments and running into our backs. Now that Russell is going to be getting more playing time, we'll see how the rest of the season plays out but I don't think we've seen the last of our blocking woes.

Sallach could go. I never understood that hire. Reed Stringer wanted to be at MSU, was a great recruiter, and had very good connections in-state (played for Steve Campbell and G. Davis is his uncle). I would have kept him in the role of tight ends coach (not special teams coach). Our tight ends are no better under Sallach than they were under Stringer. I'm not sure I have heard more than 1 or 2 recruits mention Sallach in an interview. Stringer was always mentioned by recruits. If you remember, Mullen did most of his hiring and firing in December and January when he came on board. However, he didn't boot Stringer and hire Sallach until February because he had to keep Stringer around to help hold onto the solid recruiting class we were having. Stringer was often mentioned by Cox, Boyd, Banks, Russell, Whitley, etc.

According toeveryone, he is a "great recruiter" and "the kids love him". Thispage says otherwise about his recruiting skills. All his star-ed recruits committed elsewhere. Not to mention, he couldn't close the deal with Jason Croom. I know he wasn't the only person that dropped the ball on this.<div>

I'd say they are average at best. Bumphis is the exception. Lewis looked good against Memphis...Memphis. What we have is a bunch of average receiversthatare playing like a bunch of average receivers. Theyare not getting open and they are dropping balls. That could be play calling or other factors, but he has toacceptsome responsibility for the dropped passes.</div>

Just doing his buddy a favor I guess. His only other experience is coaching in the damn Ivy League. I agree with Sallach needing to be axed....tight ends coach is the type of position where I don't necessarily think we need an outstanding position coach, it's that we could fill that position a decent TE coach who happens to be one hell of a recruiter (a la Stringer as others have mentioned).

But Stringer got way more credit than he deserved. His recruiting area got moved to closest to campus because he was a weakness in recruiting. He benefited in the fact that some good players grew up MSU fans and he was unable to screw that bond up. All the guys mentioned above wanted to go to MSU and it wasn't because of Stringer! They fell into his lap. I will agree he was better than Sallach though.

Next somebody is gonna tell me Rocky held the class together when Mullen first got here....good thing I know better!
