If we end up 3-3 after the next 3 games...

I don't think any of the three are winnable...

I think we lose all three by at least two touchdowns. And it won't be because Mullen "can't get it done." It'll simply be because we are a good team who is playing three teams that are better than us this year.

I bet you're fun to be around. We only lost to aTm by 10 and auburn by 4 on the road last season.

I think we have to be more competitive in these games win or lose...

what are your thoughts on Mullen? We are playing - as it stands now - the #8, #6, and #5 teams in the country in the next 3 weeks.

I want to see us have more games like at Auburn last year, where we have a chance to win. If we lose all 3 by more than 10 points each, I will be very dissapointed.

We're really talking about whether we can

get one of two from from Texas A&M and Auburn at home because there's a zero percent chance we will win Saturday.

To answer the question, my opinion of Mullen will not have changed. He's good when he's got the better team. When he doesn't, he loses.

That's not an insult because just having a better team than most of the teams on our schedule is a herculean accomplishment considering the Croom era.

Embrace the freedom of low expectations...

I may be pessimistic about our chances but if we do lose all three, I won't be the one on here going apeshit crazy because my expectations were out of whack like some people.

It means Mullen still can't beat a Big Dog in the SEC West...

He also can't beat a Team ranked in the Top 20 or one that finishes in the Top 20.

He is also only 2-21 vs Top 25 teams when we play them, and is 1-23 vs the Top 25 ranked in the final polls.

"If we reach October 12th and Mississippi State sits at 3-3, .... I'll know that the 7-5 seasons and the occasional 8-4 is as good as it is probably going to get under Mullen. ... I still need to see Dan lead this team to a win over a good SEC opponent, not Georgia or Florida in a down year. If he can't, then the decision will fall upon the administration to decide if 7-5 and feasting on cupcakes and Kentucky is good enough, or if they want more."

I don't think it's arguable.

We are not going to go 3-0 over the next 3 games. We would be arguably the #1 team in the country. Our program is not ready to handle that type of pressure/momentum. 2-1 is the best we can hope for and 2-1 is OUTSTANDING against our next 3 opponents.

If we go 3-0, nobody else has an argument that they're number one. Granted there might be a team out there that can prove they're No. 1 in the playoffs, but nobody can confidently claim that they'd go 3-0 against that schedule, even if they are the best team in the country.

My thought will be Mullen is not coaching a top 10 team, and I won't be surprised. I'm hopeful, but I am guessing we are more in the 12-20 range this year and if we don't get one out of LSU, Bama, Auburn, and A&M, we won't even be ranked even though we will probably be one of the best 25 teams.

I did not say that..

So Mullen losing to three top 10 teams is means he can't beat a team ranked in the top 20. Brilliant.

I said that Mullen can't beat a Top 20 team b/c he hasn't so far and if he doesn't this year I have no confidence that he ever will.

I can't see past LSU today. We badly need to beat them. I would rejoice at a one point win. All of Mullen's attention and effort needs to be on LSU. The rest are only day dreams. Today LSU is our only chance to have a noteworthy year.

Well the post you were responding to talked about what it means to be 3-3 after the next three games, so it sounded like that's what you were saying. But even if you mean the entire season, which means Bama would be in there (and probably nobody else), I don't know why losing to another four top 10 teams would give you any more confidence that Mullen can't beat somebody in the top 20. Mullen has missed a few chances to beat teams in the 12 to 20 range, but not many. Like most coaches, his record is terrible against top 5 and top 10 teams. I will be highly disappointed if he doesn't go at least 1-3 against those teams, but that's what I'd expect if we're really a team that's somewhere in the teens. I think all four of those teams are top ten (or twelve teams), although I think they're all towards the bottom of the top ten and none of them are truly elite unless possibly A&M is.

Curious, does anyone think any of these games is just not winnable ? I know these teams are highly ranked now but wouldn`t be shocked if none of them finished in the top 10. I doubt that we`ll be more than a 10 point underdog in any of the three. We should win at least 1 and be damn competitive in the other 2. The Mullen excuse factory is going to have to add a second shift if he can`t get this done. It`s time !

I think being a night game at LSU makes LSU almost unwinnable even though I think LSU is beatable otherwise. I'm worried A&M may be unwinnable. I can't decide if USCe really just laid an egg or if A&M really is a damn good team that we don't match up well against. I really think all four teams are in the top 10 or 12, although I'll be surprised if they stay there in the polls since somebody has to lose all the games they will play each other in. I think we are close enough to all four in talent that it will be hugely disappointing if we don't pull one of them off.

Since you bring up Ole Miss and Freeze and compare us to them, ask yourself this question. If Ole Miss was 3 and 3 and going into this stretch (LSU/away, A&M/home, Auburn/home), what are the chances they go 3 and 0? 2 and 1? 1 and 2? 0 and 2?

After watching their game against ULM I have a much better feeling about Saturday's game.

If we played the exact same game against ULM that they did we would have fans losing their minds. For the most part they were very average, even bad at times. We can hang with them.

It would mean we are again a team that can't play above our heads for four straight quarters.

A team ranked between 20 and 30 should be able to compete and knock off a higher ranked team, even a top ten team, occasionally. We have 3 shots at it and two are home games.

I think we'll be 3-3 and I won't be surprised. I will still be disappointed because I am a fan and we are inherently irrational.

Another question...how many teams in the country are good enough to go 3-0 in those games? Maybe one or two?

Are there more than five to ten teams that could even go 2-1 in those three games?

How many teams even have a chance to win ONE of those games? Twenty or so?

So really the question is are we one of the best five, ten, or twenty teams in the country?

Kinda cool we get to find out on the field I guess.

There are 2 teams in the SECw that are good enough to go 3-0.
And we're playing each other Saturday night.
State wins this game, and we go 3-0. The schedule works well for us, a week off before a&m at home, and then auburn at home.
Their schedule is ok .. next 2 consists of 1 gimme and a trip to auburn.

this is a winnable game for State. I'm predicting the Signature Win®

I can really see you guys knocking off LSU. You match up pretty well with them and it will be a test for their defense. I would LOVE to see you guys go 2-1 over your next 3 and I will just leave to you who I hope that 1 is. :)

Good Luck - Murder Row for sure though. OUCH
