We have Russell and Dak next year, unless you move him somewhere else. I don't know of many true freshman qbs that are ready to play day 1 in the SEC.

since it would make no sense to start a true freshmen...

who are some legit targets that we will go after
Alford
Bauta - committed to UGA, but we were high on him ...i think we give him a call but probably nothing here
Voytik - doubtful, committed to pitt
winston - yeah right
Liggins
Bo Walters - could redshirt and take favres class spot as rs jr next year
Forrest Williams
Steven Bench - we were really high on him, but his offers are lacking to say the least

i assume we go dual treat
what are some other names to look into...

Absolutely not, you redshirt a player like Alford

If he's the baseball talent that everybody says he is, he'll leave after his 3rd year anyways for the MLB draft.
I could see that being a logical reason not to redshirt him.

Also, if he really wants to be a two sprots guy, have you ever seen a starting QB that does not practice in the spring.

and leaves that option unavailable to Alford. Then it's between us, the Bears, and USM...in which case, I'd like our chances. IMO, this recruitment is just as much on Cohen as it is on Mullen. Need them both to work together on him...

We are after Liggins first, with Bergeron in the picture as well (mandeville, LA). I wouldnt count out bench or mays either. No inside info,I just dont think we get Alford. We are in the conversation with enough qb's to sign one if we want unless the staff feels better about the value of a best avialable with the 25 cap

We can't worry about what may or may not happen in baseball. All he will be suited for is holding Russell or Dak's clip board, unless you plan on moving him. It just seems like a waste to me.

both baseball and football for MSU, it'd be this guy! I first saw him at a baseball tourney while Anthony was in the 8th or 9th grade. He would have been playing U14 tournament ball at William and Mary. He was a star in the making. When he came up to bat, even games in progress would stop and watch. At that time he hit balls out of sight.

Hell, hasn't he played short stop for Petal Highsince hewas in the 9th grade? We tend to make these guys better athletes than they are but Anthony a talented athlelete whom I think could play and make an impact at multiple positons on the football field (WR, DB, QB).....

other than the off/def line there is not a position that he could not play and he would play very well...he is a rare talent...and he would be a very good diamond dog as well. The convential thinking is that he is even better a BB that football.....I am not a familiar with baseball since I don't enjoy the sport but he started for Petal BB as a freshman and that does not happen at Petal often..those of you who follow HS baseball know Petal has a very good baseball program ...Petal was right at 500 last year when he returned from his knee injury and they promptly went on a roll andwon 6A for the second year in a row. </p>

He was still playing minor league baseball this past summer before he came to Wisconsin. So, not only did he miss Spring practice, but he also missed most, if not all, summer workouts with the team.
