If we get Brunetti where or does he come into play next year?

Can this kid contribute right away? Does he RS? Does he take Relf out of the QB equation? I've watched some video and the guy is pretty quick. I would say is arm strength is pretty good, but not great. He does have some nice touch on some of his vertical throws. He does remind me of somewhat a right-handed Pat White. I would love to see him in our offense.

I'm just thrilled we might actually have serviceable options at QB. I didn't know that was allowed at MSU.

Brunetti does not contribute in 2010. He may factor in the 2011 rotation though depending on how our QB situation plays out with Russell and Relf. No true freshman will come in and start right away or even play a good amount of time at MSU or most other SEC schools. You have to remember they will only be available to the coaches during August and will not have a spring to go through and learn the system, play calls, checks, different coverage reads etc.

I think Brunetti will add depth to the position if he were to come to MSU, but the 3 QB's that will see any PT next year will be Relf, Russell and Stegall. Brunetti and Favre will get the RS just like Russell did and will sit and learn the system for a year before having 4 full years to play.

would have ever been a factor in Brunetti's decision. Of course I know every kid thinks he can play as a "freshmans".

I think most QBs feel like they can come in and start right away. I would not want a QB who did not feel that way, but I think Brunetti was afraid that he would get zero playing time with Newton, Relf, and Russell ahead of him for the next 2 years. With Russell not yet proven, and Relf being mainly a running QB, Brunetti probably sees this as a chance to prove himself. However, most QBs quickly find out that the speed of the game is so much faster than they ever thought and that the amount of checks and reads along with learning new plays is a bit overwhelming in a matter of a month. That is why it is almost certain unless a QB is here for spring practice that they won't contribute that fall. Brunetti could play as a RS freshman and get on the field a year earlier than he would have had Newton showed up and locked up the QB job for the next 2 years.</p>
