If we Win 6 But Get Blown Out By Wisky, Is Flood Done?

I just don't see this ending well for him or us.

He's damaged goods. The scandals made national news...not our program, not our APR. His behavior (emails) made national news not his coaching prowess (or lack thereof).

I think Flood is basically a good man... but his first name should be PETER.
He's risen as far as he can go and proven the principle is still alive in Piscataway.

People mark Maryland as a probable win... but they played a heck of a much better game against PSU than we did. Army shouldn't even count.

He'll stay if they win 6. I have a feeling that he'll pull at least one unexpected win out of his ***. It's going to take a monumental collapse for him to get fired.

He should already have been fired.

If you read the Barnwell report and still don't get that our head coach is an unqualified, overmatched, bumbling buffoon then I don't know what to tell you.

The fact that he still roams our sideline taking notes or whatever the hell he does is a disgrace.

We have no money.

We could lose the rest of the games by 50 and he will still be on the sidelines next year.

Our program is a joke. Damn.

Women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer earned $1.6 million in 2014.

RU never fires based on a single season of W/Ls - not sure why the an expectation is being set at 5 or 6 wins resulting in a firing. Money is and always has been a big factor - in addition to a strong influence by the faculty on sports spending.

Winning this game or that game should never be the basis for keeping or firing a coach. Anything can happen in a given game or a team can go on a tear. You have to look at the overall body of work and the direction that the program is trending. In my opinion, Flood is not the answer. The issue now is when and how to let him go.

Most likely,5 wins this year means a bowl game.Jerry Palm still says that 8 5-7 teams will make the field.

Currently open, with a possibility of several other high profile jobs. As much as a move would be nice, this really may not be the best year. At least USC and SC will likely cause other dominoes to fall, since they will take established coaches.

Of course, some people would say that there's a S#&t-ton of good OC/DCs who could be great head coaches coming available....

It's one thing to be mediocre and say that you're working towards something.

This whole season though, off the field, has just looked really bad though.
How can you say that you are a leader when you have people being arrested and you yourself are suspended for not respecting academic standards/protocols? How do you recruit when people don't respect you?

I say ship him and start over.

The question is WHO will we be able to replace him with? There will be about 10 open coaching spots in the offseason. I don't think it is prudent to fire him unless we have locked in a real home run hire.

I think it will take 4-8 for our administration to fire him. Personally, I would have fired him when the investigation results came out. But this is Rutgers.

Flood's going to be here in 2016, even if he wins fewer than six games. That's not me being a "Flood Apologist;" that's an objective analysis of the color of the smoke coming out of the AD's chimney.

My only question is whether the persistent, ad nausem "Fire Flood" threads make it easier or more difficult for him to recruit to Piscataway.

My thoughts...anything more than 4 wins and he stays, unless there are other "revelations". I'm not even sure he gets canned with 4 wins.

I don't know why a lot of you think Julie won't get rid of Flood. She tried to do it before and she'd do it again.

Win/loss doesn't matter. We are stuck with Flood. Our leadership doesn't give a hoot about winning in college athletics. Just give 'em that B1G check every week. Football whores.

We not have started to get the big B1G check yet,

I'm not sure how you guys get to six wins.

In theory...Neb home, @ Army, Maryland home.

In reality, we beat Army and probably Maryland and finish 5-7 which IMO finishes the Flood Era. If we accept a bowl invite at 5-7 I will be embarrassed for us. I'm preparing myself for him being here next year by beginning not to care what happens anymore. The apathy I felt inside the stadium last night I haven't felt in a very long time. Scratch that...I felt it during the USF game in 2013. All you need to know right there.

Great teams should have a great team culture. That starts up top.
You have to have the utmost confidence and strong leadership qualities.
Greg Schiano in the NFL seemed like a hot mess, but I have to admit when he was here, he was all in. He played a big role in the expansion, I believe, pushing for bigger things and being ambitious.

People are saying, "We don't have the money" or "Who we going to hire?"
Just some thoughts, but what about internally?
I don't know much about him, but what about Norries Wilson. Seems like he has a decent resume and we almost beat MSU when he stepped in. And Bob Fraser, he should at least be DC again. He was DC/co-DC when Rutgers was in prime form years ago. His LB's so far are the stars of this defense right now.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to assume we're stuck with this turkey of a coach until I see real evidence that we aren't.

It's not just the "L's'". The question I asked is layered.

First, wasn't Flood told "no more blowouts". If not, I suggest Julie sends him an email that memorializes that thought.

Second this year has been an aberrant abortion....from the 6-7 players / former players who were arrested, to the suspensions of Laviano / Carroo pre-game #1, to Carroo's "alleged" issues, to Flood's bad decision to use email mails (who is his advisor ....Hilary?).

He should have been fired...and if they want till the end of the season fine...but another blowout and I figure that's the cherry on top.

Not our problem. This is exactly why the AD needs to deal with the situation. This is her problem.

this is going to be like two years ago where a win against USF on the last game of the season saved his bacon. i'm predicting a win at home against maryland to get us to FIVE wins, and flood staying.

KJB, if we almost beat MSU we can beat Nebraska. Carrroo needs to be healthy. Wish he played vs you guys.
