Ware won the Heisman in 1989. I don't think that they got 20 years of prestige boost of out it but I'm sure it helped play some part in convincing Art Briles to come coach there (or later, Kevin Sumlin) or when they were recruiting Kevin Kolb or Case Keenum or even when O'Korn picked Houston over us. The landscape of college football has changed dramatically in that time but the Heisman is a timeless credential. It still matters that it happened even if it was 20 years ago. I don't know if we will still be landing star DBs in 2025 by mentioning that Banks won a Thorpe award here, but if Dak takes home the Heisman, I promise you that it will be used as a recruiting tool far into the future.
