First off I thought bama, but is that a good choice? I think Fsu would be best path to the playoff bc we would have to be jumped by 2 teams then with no loss risk.
FSU without a doubt. I have no qualms with Bama representing the West. Gives us 1 less game to risk. Only downside is that we'd have to travel to Pasadena, but I'd be willing to take that over playing Bama in the semi-finals.
Auburn over Bama is the obvious choice, but that would require us to play another game (SEC championship). So, I'd rather see UF beat FSU. With that outcome, we jump FSU and two teams would have to have everything fall together to pass us, while we still get to the playoffs with one less game.

I think this is the right choice. After a little more thought, I'd choose Oregon to lose though. Keep Fsu in the playoff. I'm not scared of them at all
Auburn over Alabama is the only answer. It allows MSU to control its own destiny. That is all you can ask. Any other loss is subject to others' opinions.
But we have an opportunity to go to Atlanta, win the SEC, and will control our own destiny. That's as direct as it gets, and I want to see us win the SEC. I don't understand not wanting to win the conference and controlling our own destiny instead of having to root for everyone else to lose.
If Florida beat FSU, we wouldn't need any other help. We'd be in. With the auburn over alabama upset, we might "control our own destiny" right into another loss. "Blah, blah, blah, loser mentality" or whatever. We could very well lose to GA or Mizz and not get in. West championships are ok. A shot at a natty is at stake.
We also have an opportunity to make it to the playoffs with 1 less game. The smart choice is to limit injuries or losses. Don't make it harder on yourself. Sure, it would look and feel a lot better if we won both the SEC and the playoffs but do you really think it would be disappointing if we only won the playoffs? I really don't think Bama was too upset about not winning the SEC in 2012. Just because others including myself are saying we'd much rather see FSU lose does NOT mean we don't want to win the conference outright. It's just that the odds would be better. Nothing else nor is it that hard to figure out.
That's the only acceptable answer, IMO.
First of all, we'd have a chance to win the SEC. We'd control our own destiny and not have to scoreboard watch. And Alabama would be eliminated. Win Win Win.
Yes, FSU, OSU, TCU and Baylor losing would be awesome. But none of those alone guarantee us anything.
If you're going to think that way, what if we get in without winning the conference and lose in the playoff? I want us to win the SEC and go from there. Just my opinion.
I think my answer is between the lines when I said I would actually like to win both the SEC and the playoffs. If we lose either, then we are out. I could ask that same question reworded to you by asking how would you feel if Bama loses and we lose the SECCG? I would much rather actually be IN the first playoff than not at all.
I want us to do something we haven't done in over 70 years and that's win the SEC. Only chance we have of that is if Alabama loses. Win the SEC and we'll probably be the 1 or 2 seed in the playoff and anything that happens then is gravy.
I guess I'd just be a lot more sick if we missed the playoff because we lost in the SEC championship and got left out than if we didn't make the SEC championship but made the playoff (and went one and done). Obviously, if you are REALLY confident you can win it, you would rather go to the SEC championship game.
