If you get fired for being drunk on the job, call Steve Sarkisian's lawyer.

This guy came to work DRUNK more than once, and his employer decided to fire him for it, and this guy who apologized for "his behavior" is now suing his former employer for discrimination because alcoholism is a recognized disability under California law.

If this guy has been diagnosed as an alcoholic, then it appears he has a very strong case based on California law.

Hows that liberal thing working out for Californians again? LOL!

Just because he is suing doesn't mean he will win. Likely, he is hoping they will settle out of court rather than go to trial.
I think this is a really bad move on his part. Playing the victim role will likely cause schools to not want to hire him as a coach.

Lester Munson who is ESPN's legal analyst said yesterday that Sark has a very strong case and said if USC was wise they would initiate settlement talks. He thinks USC would lose in court.

The late George Carlin would have had a field day with this. Being a drunk is now called "having an alcohol disability". Kinda like a dumb kid being called "minimally exceptional."o_O

Does this mean that if live in California and catch alcoholism you can file for early disability?
Yes. Yes you can. The main issue though is the disability paycheck would be next to nothing compared to the taxes you would have to.........never mind. Yeah man, go for it! It's only money.

i went back and read the story. I wonder if part of the "leave of absence" he agreed to take was supposed to include his return to being a head coach after completing treatment.
Still, if he can win $30 mil, he would not need to return to coaching.

Chances are they will settle out of court, because really who wants to go through a long drawn out trail. I would say they pay him the remainder of his contract, or whatever the buyout was in his contract.

Honestly at this point I think he could careless about another head coaching job. I'm thinking he's hoping to get enough from this buyout to at least live comfortably. Maybe 5-10 years later down the road he gets an assistant job.

Good thing for him because I can't see too many FBS schools beating down the door of a guy who shows up drunk at work and sues his former employer.

File this under the "Nothing to lose and everything to gain" area of "I'm a victim....pay me for being irresponsible with little to no self discipline or accountability",... to my name.

He needs our prayers and a strong rehab program to get his life turned around....before it is too late.
Hope he can do it for his families sake.
