Quite an awesome concept too. Putting poetry (I know you'll claim its not but it is) to beats or music. Very creative ****. Too bad it's gotten watered down by ****** artists just like rock n' roll. Good rap is good music.

I was referring to panic at the disco.... Widespread Panic is ok. I know I said Panic and should have said Disco, sorry for the confusion.

I agree that there used to be good stuff but now...now they havea hook on a loop and the "poetry" that you refer to has become freestyles about whores, drugs, guns, gangs, and green (money). I don't care about who has the most money, I don't care who you are better than, if you have to tell everyone that you're better than them then chances are, you probably aren't.

I laughed at your comment, "Quite an awesome concept too. Putting poetry...to beats or music."You put it out there like it's an innovation, rapping has been around a long time.
Have you ever heard of the Charlie Daniels Band? Sure isn't any singing going on there.
311? They don't sing, for the most part it's rapping.

Aesthetically pleasingraphas meaningful lyrics, not good beats with a looped Hook.

Sidewinder was the best hard rock cover band I've ever seen and they did Boston like it was really Boston. They closed their shows this way when they were at their peak and it was energy like you couldn't believe. They'd tap into the electrical lines at frat houses and really cut it loose at the end of the show when the cops wouldn't get there in time to cut it down before they'd be done anyway.

Rap was a very innovative style of music when it came out. And you still have rap artists coming out with good stuff, it's just not what's popular on the radio. You have Lil' Wayne singing "Lick Me Like Lollipop" and whats his name from Batesvill singing "superman that ho".<div>
</div><div>And by the way, ANYTHING can be considered music, it just might be really, really terrible music.</div>

Soulja Boi Tell 'Em is not a musician, he isbeat-maker. And wtf did I say? Songs with a looped hook, SJTE does that very well, and don't get me started on"Lollipop."
Alright, I guess I have to say something now; that song was innovative for the rap but that's not very hard to do. It's not like autotune is a simple 17'ing synthesizer.
Wait!you tell me that it is?!?!Well that means that it's not something new.
It has been around for decades, you say? Oh my, I was thinking that T-Painpulled it outof his magic 17'ing hat(s). Simpsons 17'ing did it, man. It's may be innovative to rap only because rap is just now starting to turn the corner.

But the main argument I'm making is not any of the above, it's about LYRICS...poetry, if you will. There are no meaningful, transcendent lyrics in any rap songs coming out on the radio.

*****, Money, Weed is probably the closest to a rap-song with true meaning behind it. It's all stated in thelanguage that many can'tget passedbut it actually has meaning to it, and if you can get passedthatlanguage it's a decent song.

Final statement: ANYTHING can be considered music, but not everything can be considered a song.

Putting poetry to beats or music. Very creative ****.
As if putting poetry to music is some new phenomenon rappers created. I mean the poetry of Psalms has been put to music (hymns) since the beginnings of recorded history.

That's my only point. I don't care to argue whether rap is music or not. I don't care for it, but have no problem if others like it. To each his/her own.

While he does have great talent, I do not care for him much. He released a statement in an interview about his latest album saying something along the lines of "if you don't like this album, then you just don't like music" - kind of arrogant and extremely douchey. Also, a lot of people think they're really "getting into music" when they listen through Dave's catalog. He's way too mainstream for that groupthink to hold true and is a poor man's version of panic. I just know a lot of tools/posers who choose to listen to Dave and get those uber-sweet stickers on their car. All this being said, his concerts are very fun, girls love him and his stuff with Tim Reynolds is great quality stuff. <div>

not starting anything, I just don't see why so many people choose to think every DMB fan is like that. Yes ill agree they are more main stream than panic or even phish (both of which i listen to) but not every dmb fan is your stereo typical drunk douche or that girl that never stops screaming for them to play crash. Speaking for my self and maby 20% of the fanbase, I know songs by dave that have never been released and maybe played 4 times ever such as Dreamed I killed god, Once on a wild afternoon, or Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors. Do I have a dave sticker on my truck? Yeah, but how many other fans do you know would drive 18 hours to Alpine Valley, WI to camp and see their favorite band play two shows because they always play amazing setlists there? like i said, not trying to start something, just making a point that there are true hardcore DMB fans out there.

While I have not been to a show, I am certainly not a drunk douche or a screaming girl. I don't like crash, and I cannot stand the fact that DMB has a lot of mainstream stuff pulling in the unwanted fans that people label as "THE Dave Matthews fans." DMB has the best jazz drummer alive - try to find a better one, I dare you - along with a terrific bassist and a strange strumming pattern by Dave Matthews, and when LeRoi Moore was still alive they had an amazing artist on the saxophone. Bring it all together and they are a wonderful band to dance to (live), if you like to do that type of thing - dance, I mean.
