I'll say it. The hell with Auburn, their trees, their Heisman and their BCS trophy....
To some of us, a tree is just a tree. To others, college sports are merely entertainment so cheating at them is minor news.
I've been trying to put myself in their shoes, and I still come down on the side that the tree killing is not the worst news of the day for them. Don't get me wrong: they guy who did it is a sick, bitter man who should be punished to the full extent of the law. But in the end, its just trees.
I cannot think of anything being destroyed at MSU that couldn't be replaced. I already said that someone killing Bully would not get me overly bothered. Blowing up Lee Hall? The YMCA building? Everything is replaceable.
On the other hand, I get a really sick feeling in my stomach whenever it appears MSU is in trouble with the NCAA. And its not the impending probation I am worried about. It is grown men who are so selfish and blinded by the lust for winning that they are willing to corrupt young High School boys. Don't get me wrong: I know it goes on every year at every school, and there are far worse things you can do than to give a college kid some spending money, but it just seems to be the exact opposite of what a University should be doing.
And, if MSU had just won its first ever NCAA championship in any sport, and that championship was in jeopardy of getting stripped away due to allegations of cheating, I would be crushed.
