I've heard enough "<span class="messageBody">You can kill our trees, but not our spirit! War Eagle!!!"</span>to last a lifetime. Now it may be true that a dead tree won't break apart their "family" but NCAA sanctions sure as hell will.

if this gets national exposure. Killing 130 year old trees in the name of a rivalry is just plain sick and we`re already viewed as a conference whose values are badly out of whack.

It's a couple of 17'ng trees. Most of my high school friends went to Auburn, and my facebook stream is blowing up tonight with people crying about their damn trees. They will transplant new ones, dammit, and even though they won't be identical they can still throw toilet paper at them.

It's insane. I asked all of them what was the worst news of the day:

1. An AU football player tweeting that he will pay someone to write a paper for him;

2. Tracey Rocker leaving the AU coaching staff to go to the NFL;

3. The NCAA confirming they are still investigating Cam;

4. HBO doing a Real Sports segment on Cam including interviews with Rogers and (maybe) Bond and Bell;

5. The NCAA investigating two other Auburn recruits; OR

6. Some trees being poisoned.

It was unanimous that trees being poisoned is an offense that should be punishable by death, and that none of the other news matters because they "won it on the field!!"

I hate Auburn.

I hate the Mississippi Bears.

And as of 2010, I hate the SEC. Yeah, I know we'd be an average CUSA team without the SEC. But I still hate the SEC I want it to be shown for what it is.

you don't 17 with the trees man. This is one of those "C'mon Man" moments. I'm not one of those "green" people per say, but there is no need to damage a landmark like this. This is just downright wrong. I would never try to destroy the Grove as much as I hate Ole Miss. This is just absurd.

Lets be clear. Everyone that posted on this comment agrees that killing these trees was a terrible thing. Whoever did this is a piece of @#$%. Plain and simple. This type of stupidity does not have a place on any level. With all being said, I don't feel sorry for them at all. Couldn't of happened to a better university. Auburn you smell something foul, and you reap what you sow. Some like to call it karma, and the Auburn douchebags get what they get, but the people responsible should not be celebrated, I hope the spend some quality time in jail along side the pay for play guys.

Like I said, what the guy did was vile and spiteful. He should be caught, ridiculed, and severely punished.

But, yeah, Bully is just a dog. We get a new one every few years or so. It would be pretty disgusting for someone to intentionally kill him, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Oak trees only live a couple hundred years, if they're healthy. One in the middle of town that gets abused like that one would not have lived much longer. It sucks, but they'll get over it.

auburn's heisman and national championship winning QB already showed the nation our conference values are badly out of whack. <div>

the guy should be prosecuted for killing the trees, but I don't feel sorry for Auburn. Just like I wouldn't feel sorry if a tornado ripped thru the "Grove" and turned it into a junk yard.

Bottom line - "Karma is a *****"! I believe it is just starting to make its turn on Auburn.

and a lot of it. It's rained a good bit since November. It's possible that quite a bit of vegetation in that area will die, along with whatever lives along with it. So, yeah, a small ecosystem has been killed.

To some of us, a tree is just a tree. To others, college sports are merely entertainment so cheating at them is minor news.

I've been trying to put myself in their shoes, and I still come down on the side that the tree killing is not the worst news of the day for them. Don't get me wrong: they guy who did it is a sick, bitter man who should be punished to the full extent of the law. But in the end, its just trees.

I cannot think of anything being destroyed at MSU that couldn't be replaced. I already said that someone killing Bully would not get me overly bothered. Blowing up Lee Hall? The YMCA building? Everything is replaceable.

On the other hand, I get a really sick feeling in my stomach whenever it appears MSU is in trouble with the NCAA. And its not the impending probation I am worried about. It is grown men who are so selfish and blinded by the lust for winning that they are willing to corrupt young High School boys. Don't get me wrong: I know it goes on every year at every school, and there are far worse things you can do than to give a college kid some spending money, but it just seems to be the exact opposite of what a University should be doing.

And, if MSU had just won its first ever NCAA championship in any sport, and that championship was in jeopardy of getting stripped away due to allegations of cheating, I would be crushed.

They paid $180,000 and stole a huge recruit, that hurts. But in order for us to make noise in the SECW we need Auburn to be good. Bama steals recruits from us every year, probably by the same means. With Bama only an hour's drive away, anything that is bad for them is good for us. We just need to get Bonds et al. to STFU and maybe we can start doing some "recruiting" ourselves.

Auburn will kill more animals (mostly bugs in the dirt) replacing the trees than this chemical will.

If you purchase a football player for $180K & the system of justice turns a blind eye, suddenly karma takes over deals the justice man refuses to.

I agree with everything you said. Karma is a b!tch.

You walk into a thug bar and start running your mouth, well sure the guys that lays you out deserves some legal punishment, but you're hardly an innocent victim. Auburn thumbed it's nose at the law, tradition, and everything holy in football. 17 them.

I don't condone senselessly killing trees - especially beautiful old trees like live oaks or whatever these are. However, the hypocrisy is hilarious. Wasting tons upon tons of TP isn't exactly environmentally conscious. Plus, Auburn has repeatedly acknowledged that their treatment of the trees via their celebrations has been speeding up their death. They can be pissed about having their tradition violated, that's fine with me. But certainly not under the guise of concern for the environment.

We don't want Auburn to be good. Auburn steals just as many if not more recruits from us than Bama.

Anything (probation, etc) that weakens other SEC teams helps us. Any break we can get that pushes up higher in the SEC West standings is important. Look at USC--they caught UGA, UF, and UT down,and they made the SECCG. THEN they get one of the best recruits in the whole nation and a #11 national recruiting ranking, and an even brighter future.

Auburn had been on my sh** list for a long time due tothem being the first to try to get rid of ourcowbells. Then last year theybuy Cam out from under us and win a national championship. Ihate it for thebig old trees, but I don't feel sorry for their schoolat all. Screw 'em. I hope they get slammed by the NCAA.
