The key word is ‘another’ - number 83 in the books.Has been a pretty good year, best was our 57th anniversary, worst was a vicious vertigo attack and of course Husker Football’s disastrous results. Well, Huskers will be fixed this year but I’ll have my 4th Vertigo.

I wrote up a memory trip of my favorite sport related
occasions, named it “My Life On the Edge of Sport”. Most of it was Husker games
I attended, memorable to me only, because of the people or party attendant.
Couple may be of general interest.. or maybe not:
My introduction to Cornhuskers was 7th grade upon receiving set of 5 or 6 Husker Player Cards issued by Standard Oil of Indiana (SOI = AMOCO = BP). Likes of Francis, Hopp Presnell ?
In ‘45 we moved to farm. Guy Chamberlin lived 2 miles from us and Rex Ekwall across the road. Two best athletes to ever come from county lived farms couple miles apart.
“63 - “ 67 lived in Birmingham MI, houses were without alleys with a great park like setting back-to-back, easy communication to neighbors. Directly back of us lived Don Lange, Naval Academy’s first All-American basketballer. Don was my best friend in Detroit. Two doors down on our street lived Joe Falls, the well known Sporting News and Detroit Free Press sports reporter. Our going away party was held at Joe’s about which he wrote in his column that week. Mentioned Don, said I was a big time Husker promoter and thought I might be onto something (Huskers not yet established as elite then). Also gave a hello to Mickey Stanly the Tiger’s Golden Glove outfielder who bought our house. Several friends called upon reading the report, that was one of the best places we ever lived.

This is a great country and it’s wonderful to be alive and live here.
When I got up this morning it looked so nice out.. I just left it out.
GBR and see you next year.

From one old timer to another: Happy Birthday! Just had my 72nd so I'm not far behind. Good idea writing the memories down. I'll start doing that as soon as I yell at the kids to get off my lawn :)
